When a mutual friend wouldn't stop texting Rebecca Leung and Michael Son about meeting up at a bar in 2011, the two finally gave in and found themselves in the same place at the same time. "Our first conversation lasted maybe ten seconds," says Rebecca. "But it made an impression!"
When Michael surprised Rebecca with a proposal over appetizers at Auberge Du Soleil, the pair knew they'd be returning to Napa to say "I do." So on May 4th, 2013, they invited 120 guests to join them at the Carneros Inn for a fresh, colorful celebration planned by Lovely Little Details and photographed by Onelove Photography.
Though the wedding was in a country setting, Rebecca brought a touch of modern glam to her look, choosing gunmetal glitter Jimmy Choo pumps and a J.Crew statement necklace to complement her updo.
Michael wore an Indochino tuxedo, while Rebecca picked a veil by White by Vera Wang.
The bride's mermaid gown, with a swirling tulle skirt and ribbon belt, was by Vera Wang. "My favorite element was the drama on the train," says Rebecca. Her bridesmaids wore peach-hued infinity dresses.
The bride carried a white and cream bouquet of garden roses, calla lilies, freesia, and ranunculus. Her bridesmaids carried smaller bouquets of soft green hydrangeas, orchids, and berries.
"We're both really attracted to modern lines and understated elegance," says Rebecca of her and Michael's wedding-day aesthetic.
The daughters of the couple's friends served as flower girls, walking down the aisle in dresses that looked like clouds of tulle. And they were very serious about their responsibilities! "One of the flower girls spilled her petals a few minutes before the ceremony," says Rebecca. "They were asked to be extra careful and not waste the petals, so they went extremely slowly and barely threw any!"
As guests made their way to their seats, they grabbed green, silver, and gold ribbon wands to wave after Rebecca and Michael were pronounced husband and wife.
Guests were seated at white chairs overlooking the valley. The aisle was lined with peach rose petals, and the altar was flanked by two lush arrangements of peonies, hydrangeas, and roses.
"We put a lot of work into the cocktail hour," says Rebecca. The couple's planner snuck them from the ceremony straight to the cocktail hour so they could see the fruits of their labor before the guests arrived. On the menu? An Old Fashioned for Michael and a Mai Tai for Rebecca.
Though the wedding was in wine country, even Rebecca and Michael's reception was all about the cocktails, starting with the coaster escort cards. Hung on twine, the coasters featured recipes for the bride and groom's favorite drinks on the back.
Inside the Napa Ballroom, guests sat at tables simply decorated with low arrangements and candles. Also on the tables were two of Rebecca's DIY projects, bottles of homemade limoncello and gold glitter table numbers. Centerpieces featured bunches of pastel flowers, including peonies, garden roses, and hydrangeas. "We kept it minimal so that our guests would be able to have a conversation," she says.
A sweets table, topped with a gold sequined cloth, featured macarons, cake pops, and the couple's favorite candies.
The three-tiered cake included layers of raspberry zinger and caramel apple cake. "We kept the design simple," says Rebecca of the cake, topped with fresh pink and peach roses.
Instead of a bouquet and garter toss, Rebecca and Michael acknowledged his Korean heritage with a Paebek ceremony, where they honored their parents, received blessings, and tried to catch dates and chestnuts as a sign of how many children they'll have. "Our guests thought it was hilarious," says the bride. "There will apparently be a dozen!"
Five days after the wedding, Michael and Rebecca went to French Polynesia for their honeymoon. Their favorite part of the day? "Having a few moments just the two of us," says Rebecca. "Couples should definitely spend a couple minutes alone after the ceremony if they can!"

Want to Be a Great Son-in-Law? Take After Seth Rogen (Yes, You Read That Right!)

While funny man Seth Rogen seems like an unlikely source of inspiration when it comes to being a good son-in-law, the actor exemplifies what it means to blend two families. Case in point: Rogen is using his Hollywood status to help raise awareness for his mother-in-law's disease, early onset Alzheimer's.
Rogen married his girlfriend of nine years, Lauren Miller, in 2011 and has been an intimate part of her family — and their battle with Alzheimer's — since that time. In February, Rogen testified before a Senate committee about his family's personal battle with the disease. "I started dating my wife, Lauren, nine years ago, when her mother was almost 54-years-old," Rogen said in his speech. "The first time I met her parents, being the mensch that I am, I was excited to spend time with them and make Lauren think I was the type of guy she should continue dating. It was this trip, the first time I met my now-mother-in-law, that Lauren first admitted to herself, and then to me, that something was off with her mother."

In an effort to help aid families like his own and push for research for the cause, Rogen started Hilarity For Charity, a variety comedy show that will raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's.
"Comedy is 'the something' we're actually capable of doing," Rogen told People. "Because it's such a bummer, we thought it might be nice to, in some way, make it fun for people. It would be nice ultimately to discover a cure. I hope we're able to capture the attention of more young people, and get the disease the type of funding it deserves."
On October 17, Rogen will host the third annual show in L.A. to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. And though he's known for his hilarious films and irreverent stand-up, the philanthropic son-in-law has taken great strides towards bettering the life of Miller's mother — according to Entertainment Tonight, Hilarity for Charity was has already raised $1.5 million for the cause.
4 Life Lessons to Take Away from Wedding Planning

Think wedding planning is all tulle and peonies? Think again. The road to matrimony is paved with poignant moments and important life lessons that every bride should take note of. Here are a few key things you might learn along the way.
1. Anything can be done ... in small steps.
When a bride first begins planning her wedding, the amount that needs to be done can feel insurmountable. "How can I plan a 200-person wedding when I can't even decide which save the date to use?"
The problem here lies in considering what needs to be done in totality, instead of individual tasks. Of course, you cannot make every decision for your life-changing event at once! You can, however, break your to do's into individual tasks and handle them singularly.
It's an important life lesson to remember when challenges or changes seem insurmountable. Marathon runners don't wake up one morning and decide to go for a 26-mile jaunt. Instead, they reach the finish line by training in intervals (and eating pasta... which also may be the fastest route to happiness).
2. Priorities are important.
Unless you're blessed with a Kardashian-sized wedding budget, chances are you've had to learn the word "prioritization" while planning your wedding. It's a process that may seems like the ultimate evil when you're forced to cut back on floral arrangements, but prioritizing is actually a blessing because it forces you to assess what really matters most to you — in your wedding, and in your life. Let your priorities color your choices, and you can't go wrong.

3. People matter most.
Go ahead and call us sappy, but weddings prove time and time again, that what matters most of all is the people you surround yourself with. Even if the cake topples; the rain falls; and the priest stutters, a bride and groom are ecstatic on their big day because they're marrying each other surrounded by their favorite people. It's a fact that extends far beyond the wedding day: life is brighter when you spend your days with the ones you love.
4. Life goes on.
When planning a wedding it pretty much feels like your big day will be the culmination of humanity. When you dedicate so much of your time and effort to something — whether it's a wedding, a career goal or a personal loss — it hard to see past the horizon. Surprisingly, though, the world always keeps turning.

From the amount of money it takes to actually throw a wedding to the insane amount of time you have to put into planning it (and let's be real, everything else in between), some grooms just don't get it and frankly never will — even after they're married. We asked a bunch of brides and wedding planners to spill the beans on the cutest, most clueless and often infuriating things they've heard come out of grooms' mouths during the planning process.
"He suggested we could just ask people if they could come or not so we didn't have to bother sending out an invitation. Saves a stamp and we can invite other people instead was his theory. I had to tell him it didn't work that way." — Lauren D.
"I had a groom who didn't understand why we needed bag pipes at the reception. I corrected him ... We needed pipe and drape." — Lynn D.
"He had no idea there were two rings! He thought that there was only the engagement ring and looked at me like I was crazy when I mentioned the wedding band. I had to sit down and explain to him that there were two rings and the wedding band is to be exchanged during our ceremony." — Natalie H.
"One guy said, 'Don't worry babe, worst comes to worst, me and my friends can just go to JCPenney to get our suits the week of the wedding.'" — Jacqueline R.
"A groom wanted to know why we had to rent tables and chairs for every single guest as opposed to asking everyone to eat in shifts." — Veronica C.
"He thought we could basically just send out Facebook invites and that flowers would cost a few hundred bucks. He was so clueless!" — Katie C.
"My now husband was surprised that after the engagement ring and wedding ring, he still owes me a wedding gift. He had no idea that was a tradition." — Andria C.
The Three Traits that the Best Bridesmaids (and Groomsmen) Share

Being in someone else's bridal party is both a pleasure and a responsibility. When you consider which of your closest relatives and friends to include as bridesmaids and groomsmen, think about your expectations and how much you are likely to depend on your attendants — not just at the wedding but throughout the planning and preparation. Think of it this way: Just because Betty is your best friend and confidante doesn't mean she's the gal you want to count on to wrangle all of your elderly guests at important events. This doesn't mean you have to exclude her! Simply remember what matters most from attendants so that you can gently nudge her toward the things that are important. In that light, consider these three fundamental traits for selecting bridesmaids and groomsmen:
Reliability. An attendant should be a person you can count on to stay in touch in the weeks and months preceding the wedding, to listen to instructions, to follow up on requests without being reminded, and to show up on time and ready for all events.
Consideration. Considerate attendants may offer suggestions but will understand that they aren't in charge. They will look for opportunities to be helpful but won't add to the bridal couple's worries with special demands or needless criticism.
Courtesy. In a sense, attendants are ambassadors for the bridal couple and their families. At pre-wedding events and during the wedding reception, they will mix and mingle with guests, make introductions, look out for people with special needs, and behave appropriately at all times.

Letterpress on Velvet
"We designed a fall wedding where the couple wanted a very neutral palette, so my challenge was to figure out how to make a monotone color scheme feel rich, luxurious, and warm. The solution was to play with textures — specifically velvet — which is a very sumptuous material. We trimmed everything in velvet throughout the décor and wanted to bring that theme into the paper elements too. So I actually used letterpress on velvet ribbons, which we then integrated into the escort cards and the invitation suite. Velvet has a great patina that you don't get from paper alone and the mixing and matching of textures added depth, dimension and interest to something that's usually a lot simpler." — Lynn Easton Andrews, Easton Events
Keepsake Guest Booklet
"I designed a small wedding with only 65 guests, so I really wanted the reception to feel intimate and all the guests to feel like they were a part of the wedding. To achieve this, I created a booklet for each guest, which they received at the dinner table. Inside, there was a menu and a diagram of where each person at the wedding was sitting and a little tidbit about who they were and why they were important to the couple. When guests met each other, they already knew something about the other person and it was also a special way for the couple to honor each attendee with a personal note." — Cassandra Santor, Cassandra & Company Weddings
Escort Cards with Significance
"In one wedding, we used the groom's love of timepieces (he's collected many over the years) as inspiration for how we did the seating cards. Guests picked up escort cards that were hand cut into shapes of clocks that were set to a certain time. Each time reflected a moment that was significant in the couple's relationship. Guests would know where to find their table assignments based what time their escort card clock was set to and match it with the time on bigger clocks that were placed on individual tables." — Kristin Banta, Kristin Banta Events
The Supreme Court Enabled Legal Gay Marriage in 5 States Today

It's an exciting day for same-sex couples in five states! Today, the U.S. Supreme Court has declined the opportunity to review appeals courts seeking to uphold bans on gay marriage in Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin, which means that legal, same-sex unions in these five states are now officially legal. America is one step closer to allowing gay marriage nationwide!
Officials in Virginia announced that marriages will begin commencing as soon as 1 p.m. today, while clerks in Marion County, Indiana, and Dane County, Wisconsin began issuing marriage licenses before noon.
"This is a historic and long overdue moment for our Commonwealth and our country," Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe said in a statement.
Not reviewing the appeals courts rulings not only means that the Supreme Court is more at ease with these in-state decisions, but also that the number of states with legislation allowing gay marriage has swiftly increased to 24 from 19, in addition to the District of Columbia.

But, today's Supreme Courts proceedings also opens the door for six more states to follow suit: Colorado, Kansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia and Wyoming. Soon, it seems, the number states allowing gay marriage will grow again from 24 to 30 &mdashh; making it legal in a majority of states.
"I'm blown away by this," James Esseks, a lawyer who runs the American Civil Liberties Union's legal efforts for gay marriage, told the Washington Post. "It is a watershed moment for the entire country."
While these rulings do not tackle the position of gay marriage in the constitution, it does show that the Supreme Court is more ready to get involved in this heated, nationwide debate. Those who watch the courts closely predict that there will be an overarching, national decision in the next year or two — especially after the Supreme Court struck down DOMA last year — but we'll have to wait and see.

How to Avoid a Trip (Literally!) Down The Aisle

Sure, busting your butt in front of all your wedding guests may make for some funny photos a few years down the line. But chances are, if you're like most brides, taking a trip down memory lane is the last thing you dreamed about. Avoid an unfortunate fall on your big day with these pointers from the pros.
Choose comfortable shoes.
Your wedding day definitely isn't the ideal time to start experimenting with brand new heel heights. Instead, "purchase a pair of shoes with a height you regularly wear and feel comfortable in," suggests Tracie Domino, founder of Tracie Domino Events.
Wear heel protectors.
Getting married outdoors and simply not a fan of flats? Then you'll definitely want to invest in some heel protectors, says Blake Bush, associate wedding planner and event designer at Pure Luxe Bride. "They're a great way to ensure your stilettos don't get stuck in the grass or mud, not to mention they keep your shoes from getting dirty too," she points out.
Ditch the aisle runner.
Aisle runners may look pretty, but according to Bush, they can get bundled up and tangled easily, making them very hard to walk on. If you're stressed about falling flat on your face in the first place, it's certainly not worth the extra worry.

Get your gown hemmed properly.
During your wedding dress fittings, it's extremely important to wear the shoes you'll actually be wearing on your big day, stresses Shawn Rabideau, president of Shawn Rabideau Events & Design. "This way the seamstress can tailor the hem of your wedding gown to the correct length so you won't trip on the front of it."
Make sure you have enough space.
"Unfortunately, there's a much higher chance of a bride getting tripped up on her dress, veil or even the person walking her down the aisle if the aisle isn't big enough for both of them to walk comfortably," warns wedding planner and founder of Pretty Pear Bride, Shafonne Myers. Practice makes perfect, right?
Go easy on the booze.
Try and limit yourself to one glass of champagne while getting ready for the wedding, advises Domino. "Because a few cocktails and nerves certainly don't make a great combination for a successful walk down the aisle."

Miss USA Nia Sanchez will be soon be a Miss no more! The pageant winner is set to marry her boyfriend of more than a year, actor Daniel Booko.
Booko revealed the engagement — which happened this past Saturday in New York City — on Instagram with the photo above. Next to the adorable snap, he wrote: "We're engaged!! Ahhhh! Can't wait to spend forever with my love and best friend @realniasanchez @missusa!! #bestnightever #TheBookos"
For the proposal, Booko went all out. The 21 & Over actor secretly flew to New York City, where Sanchez currently resides, and rented out the Suite Royal at the NoMad Hotel. Then, Booko decorated the 700 square foot private terrace with the works: Candles and a plethora of flowers to set the scene for the most important question of his life.
"She's thinking she's going to an event with friends...[and] I will be there looking all dapper in a suit decorated with candles and flowers and the whole thing and have her come over — just her and I to have an intimate moment — then get down on one knee and propose, then pop champagne and celebrate," he told Rumor Fix before he popped the question.

The proposal isn't the only thing for which Booko pulled out all of the stops. In the snap, we can also see Sanchez's stunning sparkler, a platinum, two-carat engagement ring, which, E! News reports that he co-designed with INTA Gems and Diamonds, the same company that helps to craft all of the crowns for the Miss California competition. The best part, though, are the hidden red, white, and blue gems inside of the ring, to commemorate her recent win.
Wedding Invitation Glossary: 12 Printing Terms Defined

Not sure what the difference is between letterpress and embossing? Are you befuddled by foil? And what on earth is a bellyband? Here's a quick primer on the most common printing terms, so you can let your stationer know exactly what you want — and create an invitation that stays on budget and gives your guests a glimpse of the wedding to come.
See More: A Quick Guide to Addressing Your Wedding Invitations Properly
Bellyband
This decorative band of paper, fabric or ribbon wraps around the middle of your invitation, almost like a belt. It's ideal for dressing up a simpler invite — and keeping response cards, maps and other extras neatly contained.
Debossing
A design is pressed into the paper, creating an indent. There's no ink involved, so you'd use this just to add a special design or monogram to the paper — not for the actual information.
Embossing
A design is pressed onto a piece of paper that's placed between metal molds to create a textured image. Just like debossing, there is no ink or foil used, but this adds an extra bit of adornment.
Engraving
The most formal and expensive style of invitation printing, where an etched plate is pressed into the back of the sheet of paper, creating raised lettering, then ink is applied. This results in a slight indent on the back of the card.
Foil Stamping
A small sheet of metallic paper is pasted onto the invite and then stamped or embossed to create a 3-D design.
See More: Save vs. Splurge Wedding Invitations
Laser Cut
A laser is used to cut precise, intricate patterns (like lace) into your paper.
Letterpress
This printing style has become extremely popular due to the handcrafted, vintage look it creates — and the lower price tag, compared with engraving. The text is literally imprinted onto the page.
Offset
This is how photocopiers and computer printers do their work. You'd use this flat printing style for very delicate materials, like rice paper, that would be easily torn if one of the other methods were used.
Screen Printing
A technique where ink is pressed through stenciled woven mesh to create a design that has a hand-painted effect.
Stock
This number refers to the weight of 500 sheets of a particular paper. The higher the number, the thicker the paper.
Thermography
This printing method resembles engraving, but costs less. Ink powder is applied and heated to create raised lettering.
Typeface
This is the lettering style, or font. Changing this can give your invitation a completely different look, so experiment with a few different options before you choose.

Padma Lakshmi knows a thing or two about entertaining. Not only is she the host of Top Chef (the new season premieres on October 15), she's also a cookbook author and creator of an eponymous line of global-inspired tableware at Bloomingdales. "My first customer is always myself. I cook a lot, and I've been wanting to do [tableware] for a long time, so I can finally have what I haven't been able to find!" she says. Check out a few of her pieces below — and if that's not enough to inspire you, read her tips for throwing a dinner party your guests will never forget!
Make things easy on yourself: "Prepare most of your food ahead and set the table the night before. Whether you're cooking for two or 20, you want your attention on your guests and not on the million things going in the kitchen. If you have a good time, they'll have a good time!"
Set the mood: "Music is really important — and so is the volume!"

Forget spending a fortune on table décor: "You don't have to buy big floral bouquets every time. You can sprinkle some glass beads on the table to make it look more festive, or bind some cinnamon sticks together with gold twine."
Dress things up outdoors: "If you see a beautiful blanket or sheet or a thin Turkish towel that you like, buy it and use it as a tablecloth. It's a great way to add a lot of color and brightness and cheerfulness."
Break the ice: "You have to make that first move for your guests — another reason you don't want to be frazzled in the kitchen! So if you have two friends that you think have something in common, start the conversation yourself. You don't want anyone to feel awkward, especially if they're at a dinner party without a plus one."

In 2008, Jennifer Bates and Nathan Whipple both enlisted the Internet to help them find love, and help it did. "We met on Match.com," Jen remembers. "Our first date was on December 26th, the second was on the 27th, and the third was on the 28th. Can you tell we were having fun?" That algorithm worked its magic and, on October 4th, 2012, Jen and Nathan headed to Mendocino, California, for a wedding — and came back to plan a wedding of their own! "Nathan always joked that he'd propose by giving me a t-shirt that said 'I'm gonna marry Nathan Whipple," says Jen. "So when I got the feeling he'd propose soon, I got a t-shirt that said 'I do, I do, I do' on the front and 'The Future Mrs. Nathan Whipple' on the back." When, at sunset, Nathan opened a bottle of champagne and popped the question, Jen ran into their hotel room, then reappeared moments later wearing her t-shirt. If that's not a "yes," we don't know what is!
The couple got right to it, planning their wedding for just a year later, on October 5th, 2013. They went the non-traditional route, renting Overbrook House in Buzzard's Bay, Massachusetts, so they could host their guests for a creative, comfortable weekend full of New England charm.
Keep reading to see all the beautiful details, photographed by Mattie's Studio!
Jen always wanted a dress with a low back, so her sister, Katie, made an appointment at a salon that fit the bride's style. What did she end up with? A slip gown with lace-appliquéd straps by Elizabeth Fillmore. She carried a vibrant bouquet that included a red dahlias, white roses, and curled ferns. Nathan's four-year-old nephew, Sam, was the ring bearer. "He was smiling from ear to ear when he brought the rings up," says Jen. The couple wrote their own ceremony, which was performed by a close friend of the couple. Nathan's family has been in the cranberry farming industry for decades, so it's no surprise that the couple included the decidedly New England fruit in their farm-to-table celebration. The signature cocktail was "The Baby Maker," a spin on the Hemingway Daiquiri. They used a tree design for their thumbprint guest book. Jen's sister, Katie, also served as the wedding planner, organizing details and executing all of the day-of details. "She's tremendously gifted, and our wedding wouldn't have been as unique and exceptional without her," says Jen.The reception took place at rustic farm tables beneath a Sperry tent. Simple centerpieces included arrangements of dahlias and roses and boxes of ferns, succulents, and mushrooms, both surrounded by moss. "We sourced some of the elements from the nearby woods that morning," says Jen. The Kraft paper menu outlined the evening's dinner, including a wood-roasted pig and fresh local vegetables.
Smoke & Pickles roasted a whole pig, as well as local cod and vegetables.Instead of a traditional wedding cake, Jen and Nathan served a selection of treats from Boston's Flour Bakery, where Jen is the Director of Operations, including homemade Oreos and cupcakes. The reception was "open mic," with family members and guests standing up to toast the newlyweds. "Nathan's best friend told the story of how we met, but managed to include aliens and space travel," Jen laughs.
The pair honeymooned in Jamaica for 10 days of aged rum, jerk chicken, and time on the beach. "We treated Katie and her boyfriend to a 5-day 'buddymoon' at the beginning of our trip," says the bride. "It's the least we could do for all their hard work."
So how did Jen and Nathan end up with a wedding that was so relaxed and carefree? "We focused on the things we really cared about, and let other things just fall into place," she says. "And, of course, we hired Katie!"

The engagement caps off an exciting year for Stoll. Not only did he have a pivotal role on House of Cards, he's also currently appearing on Homeland and The Strain, in addition to acting in This is Where I Leave You.
Wedding planning is now just one of several important things Stoll will be working on for the remainder of the year. Being asked to be the maid of honor is a big deal — even if it's your sister's wedding — the MOH is considered to be the bride's bestie, closest confidante, and the one woman she most trusts to help her get through the joys and tribulations of her wedding planning.
The MOH is responsible for making sure there will be bridal showers (even if she doesn't host one), planning the bachelorette party, and helping to corral the other bridesmaids for dress fittings and other necessary pre-wedding activities.
But there are also a number of things that the MOH is responsible for on the actual wedding weekend that no etiquette book will warn her about. These five are perfect examples:
1. Monitoring every member of the bridal party's alcohol intake on the wedding day.
Nobody likes to be the party pooper, but sometimes the MOH has to step up to the plate and tell the girls doing shots while they're dressing to cool it before the ceremony. Giggling on the altar, or tripping on your way down the aisle, isn't acceptable.
2. Knowing where the bride's personal items are at all times.
She'll probably have an evening bag that has her lipstick, tissues, her phone, and other personal items in it. She'll need to be able retouch lipstick during final photos and she'll need to refresh before her big entrance, toasts and cutting the cake. It's the MOH's job to have things on hand as needed.

3. Straightening up the bridal suite before the reception ends.
If the wedding venue is in the same place as the where the couple is staying, it's easy for the MOH to grab another bridesmaid and slip away to triage the bride and groom's bedroom before they retire for the evening. All the detritus of the bridal party dressing should be removed, the pillows should be fluffed and she might even consider leaving a romantic touch on the pillow.
4. Keeping safe the envelopes of cash.
Depending on the kind of wedding group and where they're getting married, there may not be a special place to put envelopes holding monetary gifts. Sometimes the wedding planner will hold them for the couple until after the wedding, but if there isn't somebody there to do that, the MOH needs to find a hidey-hole in the master suite or elsewhere to stash the booty.
5. Making sure the bride drinks as much water as she does alcohol.
It's easy for a bride to accidentally get drunk. Seriously. With the stress of the day, she may not eat even if there's food in front of her. And if the girls keep pouring champagne or cocktails and that's what she has to drink, she'll be downing it. Switching up between water and wine, so to speak, is a good way to help her make sure she's hydrated and sober when she heads down the aisle.

Lucky you, brides! Astrologer Joan Porte is back again this week to help guide you in the right direction when it comes to planning and pulling off your perfect day. Discover what the stars have in store for you with her horoscopes below.
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
This is the time to really get stuff done! With your ruler, Mars, in another fire sign, Sagittarius, you have enough energy to light the world. Make those calls and check things off your list, as nothing will stand in your way this week. Just remember that not everyone has all of that fire so keep your Aries temper under control when dealing with slower types.
Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
This week you'll want to pick out all those decorative items you need to make your big day beautiful. Venus is in Libra, the other sign besides yours that it rules, and sitting close to the Libran Sun so you have double Venus influence right now. Meet with your invitation designer, say yes to the dress and start thinking about table settings and flowers. All of these activities you'll handle with even more than your usual grace.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
Mercury has slipped back into retrograde, so be sure to think twice and check three times before doing anything important. In addition, back up all of your documents, as things tend to get lost when Mercury goes to sleep. If you are communicating with your vendors, follow up phone calls with email confirmations. There is just too much room for confusion until Mercury gets his act together.
Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
With the Moon in emotional Pisces right now, it's best to avoid any conversations that have the possibility of causing tension. Let your future mother-in-law wait for that call back if a blow up is in the offing. In a few days, the Moon will be back in Aries again and then you can rearm your emotions for battle.
Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Your ruler, the Sun, is currently hugging Venus and dancing in the constellation of Libra so take all of that Leo fire and get creative, brides. Speaking of dancing, pick out your music and get some of those DIY projects off the ground while you're at it. You're at the peak of your creativity right now!

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
With your ruler, Vesta, in Sagittarius and hanging close to Ceres and Saturn, you'll put your nose even further towards the grindstone than normal this week. Since you love to be in the garden, use Ceres' motherly energy and Saturn's orderliness to nurture your floral arrangements and plan any other outdoor activities you have in store for your big day.
Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Venus and the Sun are together now so sit down and let those creative juices fly. Design your wedding programs, brainstorm ideas for your signature cocktails or come up with the craftiest wedding favors ever. There's no stopping the flow of fab ideas with Venus' blessing and her touch of grace this week.
Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Pluto has just gotten out of retrograde so you should be bursting with energy right now. It's still making that nasty squared aspect to Uranus though so you'll need to take a few deep breaths and organize yourself to prevent that "chicken-without-a-head" syndrome when it comes to wedding planning. Uranus wants to move fast and Pluto is anything but, however, you can keep them both under control. After all, you are a Scorpio!

Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
If you're feeling a bit rebellious this week you can thank the Black Moon Lilith, a very feisty gal, currently influencing your ruler Jupiter. Since you're never much of a wallflower anyway this is going to give you that little edge to sneak in some touches that will offer just enough shock value to be fun yet still appropriate.
Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
With Saturn in Scorpio you might find yourself feeling even more overwhelmed with wedding planning tasks than usual. Now that Ceres, the motherly planet, is hugging Saturn close why not take a break for a few days, have some tea and just relax. Come on, you can do it.
Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
With Uranus still in retrograde, you have a lot more bottled up energy than you typically do and unfortunately no suitable outlet for it this week. Simplify your plans or take a meditation break (or two or three) to get your mind right and back on track.
Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
Although your ruler, Neptune, is currently in Pisces, it has gone into retrograde, making you feel like a total fish out of water now. This is the perfect time to delegate some tasks before you're so overwhelmed you don't know which way is up.

Hey gossip girls, we've got some juicy news to start your Monday morning: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are expecting their first child! The actress-turned-lifestyle guru announced her pregnancy on her new website, Preserve.
In conjunction with the launch of Preserve's new "Family" section, the website posted a series of photos celebrating expectant mother's with a message about this new endeavor. "Preserve at its core is about family. Family is the single word our founder, Blake built this ohme on. We have something for men, for women, for the old, but we realized, we don't have anything for the new. With family on our mind, we looked to the origin of it all — to the women in our lives who are right there, at that special moment; at the creation of family," the website says.

At the very end, a photo of Lively cradling a growing baby bump (seen above) is finally shared. To make the announcement even more adorable, the family-oriented mom-to-be had her brother Eric snap the sweet shot.
It's no secret that Lively has wanted to start a family with her husband of two years — in fact, all of her most recent interviews left a literal trail of bread crumbs!
In October 2012, the The Town actress told Allure, "I've always wanted a big family. Oh, I'd love 30 [children] if I could." Just two months ago, she told Marie Claire that "if I could spit out a litter of kids, I would."
As for Reynolds, he shares his wife's enthusiasm for children. "We'd love to have a big family. We both come from big families — my parents did four, Blake's did five. A lot of people say it's crazy, but we'll only know when we're there, you know?" Reynolds told Details in August 2013.
Just last month, Lively's interview with Vogue hinted that this happy announcement was on the way. "He's going to be a great father and leader and patriarch — he's so meant to be all of those things," she says of Reynolds.
While there's no word on when the baby is due, there's no doubt that their son or daughter is going to have some very good genes.

Though marriage is no laughing matter, a couple definitely wants to do things differently and have fun if they decide to get married in Sin City. The blushing-bride-to be sported a figure-skimming little white dress, frothy veil, and black gloves while holding onto her newly-minted husband and red roses for the happy pair's big day, where they posed outside of the legendary "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign. Brendon went much more casual in a brown blazer, navy t-shirt, and jeans.

Tee also revealed her sentiments on social media by posting "I just got married under the Welcome to Las Vegas sign" on Facebook, along with sharing some more photos. An added layer of cuteness came by the way of the duo's dog which was present for all of the special moments and the wedding itself.
The wedding came quite quickly as Brendon proposed to Tee just one week prior at a hair salon in Colorado. He is clearly a big fan of social media as he took toTwitter with a picture of himself on bended knee popping the question.

28 Ways to Create the Perfect Fall Wedding Bouquet

If you're tying the knot this fall, it's time to seriously consider your bridal bouquet. One of the easiest ways to give your autumn nuptials a burst of seasonal flair is to select a bundle of blooms filled with the colors and style of fall. With vibrant tones like deep red, burnt orange, and muted yellow just about everywhere, it's hard not to feel inspired to select a seasonally-appropriate bouquet.
To get started, decide whether you want to use in-season blossoms or stick with your favorite flowers in a fall-inspired color palette. Consider fall-blooming flowers like mums, astilbe, and asters for your bouquet or use accents like wheat, red grasses, berries, and leaves with more classic arrangements.
While the idea of a fall wedding is nearly synonymous with a rustic-themed bash, that doesn't have to be the case! If you love the idea of an elegant fall affair, you can work with your florist to create a bouquet with autumnal details that still meets your specific wedding aesthetic. The key is to use fall-themed details smart and sparingly, so you evoke just a hint of the season without going overboard. But if you do love the idea of a rustic-chic wedding, then play up the style with a bouquet filled with colorful seasonal flowers.
To help you create your own version of a fall wedding bouquet, we pulled together tons of our favorite seasonal options — click the link below to check them out.

When Is It Appropriate to Leave a Wedding Reception?

Back in the day, wedding receptions were a clean and contained four-hours long. Now, that's no longer the case. While the bride and groom used to exit before the guests, they now choose to stay and party all night long. With after parties en vogue, a wedding, from ceremony-through-reception, ends up being a full day and night commitment — which can be a lot for some guests! Here, our etiquette experts weigh in on the proper time to arrive at a ceremony or reception, and when it's acceptable to leave.
Can I skip the ceremony and only attend the reception?
Unless you absolutely have to skip the ceremony, you should try not to. It sends the message to the bride and groom that you don't really care about their momentous commitment, but are willing to spend their money and party. Of course, if you have a reasonable excuse, just be sure to tell the bride and groom and to congratulate them once you arrive.
When is it appropriate to leave a wedding reception?
As we mentioned, these days, wedding receptions and their subsequent after parties can go on until the wee hours of the night. For elderly guests, or friends who just aren't good at staying out late, this can be a daunting task. While tradition calls for guests to wait until the bride and groom leave the reception, this is no longer the case — especially since the newlyweds are now the ones closing out the party! As long as you stay until they cut the cake, you're fine. Be sure, though, to thank the bride, groom, and their respective families for a great time!

Leighton Meester, who recently married husband Adam Brody, turned more than a few heads on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of The Judge earlier this week. The former Gossip Girl star slipped on a black-and-white dress from Balmain's Resort 2015 collection. The look was the perfect mix of sultry and elegant — it flaunted her figure and toned legs without overdoing it.
Whether you're looking for the perfect frock for your bachelorette party or want to go bold for your rehearsal dinner, this is a dress that will make a lasting impression. The long sleeves, two-tone palette, mini length, and spliced skirt are totally sublime. Her metallic clutch from Salvatore Ferragamo and Jimmy Choo pumps only took the entire look to the next level.
Love this head-turning mini dress? Here's how to get Meester's killer look for yourself:

Two-tone dresses are always classic, thus this long-sleeve number in the same timeless color palette is equally as amazing as Meester's Balmain piece. A bonus? It can be given even more flair with fun hair, makeup, and accessories and is pared-down enough to be worn for years to come.

Valentino uplifted the figure-skimming mini dress with a contrast collar and sleeve cuffs, as well as feminine ruffle detailing: beautiful accents that further enhanced the dress's charm.

A woman can never go wrong with an Emilio Pucci dress. The iconic Italian fashion house is known the world over for its designs that both accentuate and elevate the female form. Brides are clamoring for metallics in everything from wedding dresses and reception details to cakes and registry items. So it's no surprise that stationers are offering tons of gorgeous invitation suites, all complete with gold foil details.
The best part about this trendy style is that it solves the classic conundrum couples often find themselves in: the bride-to-be favors soft, romantic styles, while her groom prefers to pick details that feel modern and masculine. But since gold foil wedding invitations offer the perfect balance of fresh and romantic, you can have stationery that feels traditional with just a hint of edge.
And when it comes to selecting your gold foil wedding invitations, you have the option of going with a bold, statement-making piece of stationery or selecting something more understated featuring the smallest hint of metallic details. Consider something ultra-glam, like Bella Figura's "Fugue" letterpress suit, which is practically dripping in gold foil details, for a formal affair. If you prefer the look of a more traditional invitation, Foiled Invitations' "Coronet" suite uses delicate gold accents to upgrade the classic stationery. Romantic brides will surely love floral details from Ashley Buzzy Lettering + Press or Smitten on Paper.
No matter which gold foil wedding invitation you ultimately select, it will set the tone for an unforgettable celebration.

Can I Buy My Girls Their Bridesmaids' Dresses?

Purchasing a bridesmaid dress almost always becomes a point of contention in the wedding planning process. They can get pricey, and while letting your bridesmaids pick the fit and fabric of her choosing is all the rage at the moment, the bride is still ultimately in charge of the bridal party's wardrobe. Whether the dress you like is too expensive for some of your girls, or the styles they want don't fit with your vision, it's always some sort of compromise. But, what if, you want to be extra generous and buy the gowns for your girls? Our etiquette experts weigh in on this sweet gesture.
I'm throwing a small wedding with three of my closest friends as bridesmaids. Two of my girls are well off, while one isn't. I would like to purchase their bridesmaid dresses for them, but is that inappropriate?
Of course it isn't inappropriate! You're bridesmaids' financial situations aside, if you're able and willing to buy all of their dresses (as opposed to just the one who can't afford it), it's a really lovely gesture. Just make sure when you're about to pull out your credit card to let them know that this is a gift rather than saying something like "I've got it." From a more cynical point of view, too, if you're buying the dresses as the gift you have more of a right to make style calls. Regardless, you should take into account their feelings, and we're sure they'll be very grateful for your generosity.

Amen, Jen! During an appearance on Live with Kelly & Michael yesterday, Jennifer Garner dished about husband Ben Affleck's Batman-ready physique. In a word: It's so hot, she feels like she's cheating on her husband ... with her husband.
Why, you may ask? Well, Affleck's been hard at work at the gym prepping for his roles as the steamy but steely Nick Dunne in Gone Girl, and of course, as Gotham's hero in Zack Snyder's sequel to Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Hosts Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan picked Jen's brain about Ben in the Batman costume. "Have you seen him in costume?" Strahan asked. "Yeah, lots!" Garner replied, explaining that the Batsuit off requires an entire team. "If we we're in the heat of passion, I would be like, 'Um, let me get a chainsaw.'"
Then, Ripa cut right to the good stuff: "Does he look just as ripped underneath the costume?" the morning show host asked Mrs. Affleck, since a photo was released by the studio not too long ago of a very chiseled Ben Affleck as Batman in his Batsuit.
"You know, he has put on 30 pounds of muscle and he's eight percent body fat," Garner said of her hubby's new-found figure. "He looks pretty good. It's a little bit like, 'Whoa! Who are you?' It feels like I'm having an affair. But I don't mind, I'm not complaining! It's fine."
We're sure it is! Affleck and Garner already have one of the cutest, strongest, and longest going marriages in Hollywood, so we're sure this added tone only strengthens their relationship even more!

It's one of the most well-known wedding traditions out there: A bride must wear something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue on her wedding day for good luck! The trope comes from an English rhyme dated to 1898, which also adds that a bride should also have a sixpence in her shoe. These days, and in the U.S., where sixpence isn't a currency, brides have gotten very creative with incorporating these four things into their ensembles! Though it's by no means required, and non-superstitious ladies may scoff at it, it's a fun way to personalize a wedding dress, veil, or shoes. We asked our Facebook followers to show us pictures of how they made use of this fun tradition, and here are our four favorites!
1. Something old: Beading can make a dress look extra glamorous, but it can also get pricey. Bride Morgan Moo Brink ingeniously sewed pearls from her mother's wedding dress into the detail on her own to get an extra bit of detailing and honor her mother. We love this something old a whole lot.
2. Something new: This is probably the easiest part of the tradition to work in. After all, what bride doesn't want to purchase a brand-new accessory or gown for her big day? Bride Katrina Rapo's statement earrings are totally pretty and trendy, and they'll likely become a favorite part of her jewelry collection.
3. Something borrowed: Imitation is the highest form of flattery. Bride Amanda Sanchez's sister's veil was so pretty that she just had to wear it for her own wedding. "My something borrowed was the veil my sister used at her wedding," she says. "It was cathedral length and stunning!" We're sure her sister was more than flattered.
4. Something blue: Bride Lauren Cabrera was probably anything but blue while wearing her adorable "Mrs." robe while getting ready for her wedding. The best part? She can slip it on anytime she wants, now that she's married!

We didn't have to wait long to find out Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis's daughter's name! Despite speculation that they'd name the baby Finn in honor of Kutcher's mother, the new parents went an entirely different, albeit equally as unconventional, route. Kutcher confirmed the little one's name is Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher via his website last night according to People.
"Mila and I would like to welcome Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher to the world," Kutcher wrote. "May your life be filled with wonder, love, laughter, health, happiness, curiosity, and privacy."
He even shared a photo of newborn Wyatt, but with a catch. The clever (and privacy-loving) new dad posted eight photos — two of which are dogs. "Can you guess which one is ours, or does it really matter? All babies are cute," he asked fans.
He elaborated on Facebook, writing, "Here's your baby photo. Well, one of them is. Now can the helicopter please stop hovering over our house, there is a baby sleeping inside! And she's super cute."

If you ask us, our best guess is that Wyatt is either baby one or five, although it's admittedly quite hard to say — plus, Ashton's right! All of the babies are super cute.
We have yet to hear anything for new mom Mila. In July, the then-pregnant star told W magazine that she was "eager to scale back" after becoming a mother. "I have never wanted to be the person who only has business on her mind," Mila said. "To me, this job has always been a hobby that turned into a great profession, but I don't eat and breathe acting. I'm sure Meryl Streep has a very different point of view. But I'm excited about being a full-time mom."

Just as art imitates life, interior trends often imitate the runways (and vice-versa). For their SS13 show, Chanel (among others) brought back to life the classic windowpane print, an upgraded grid pattern, which is both modern and classic.
A few seasons later and there is still no shortage of this minimalist print on the runways, and (as so often happens) it's trickled its way into our homes. For the stylish bride who wants a subtle nod to the trend, we've got some gorgeous windowpane print registry items that will appease you and your fiancé (thanks to its menswear inspired roots).
If you're inclined to keep this trend on the more traditional end of the spectrum, this luxe lambswool throw or canvas pillow cover mix modernity with registry classics in a super subtle way. For a little twist on this pretty pattern, check out this hot salmon tea towel that is sure to add color and pop to the rest of your kitchen. We also love this planter from Leif — it feels beautifully earthenware, but upgraded.

Lastly, if you're feeling especially bold try wallpapering a statement wall with this wallpaper from Ferm Living. Maybe you don't associate wallpaper with registry, but you can register for just about anything these days!

The Marriage Effect: 6 Things That Change After You Say "I Do"

Mike and I got married in a hurry — as much of a hurry as a couple who've been together for six years can. In June, we decided that we were going to do it in September with a small ceremony at my parents' house. We picked out flowers, called a rabbi, and crammed 30 people onto folding chairs in the dining room. I was 28 and wearing my mother's wedding dress. It was about as low-key as it could be without us going straight to city hall.
And we were as relaxed about the future as we were about the ceremony. Neither of us thought that getting married would change our relationship. It turned out we were wildly, hilariously wrong. Here are just a few ways that the challenge of marriage turned out to be different (and better) than going steady.
1. You address each other differently.
It took be about three seconds into the ceremony to know that things were going to change. For starters, our rabbi (also a yoga teacher) called us husband and wife, and the words were immediately and acutely electric, funny at first and then wonderfully serious. We started saying them all the time, to waiters and flight attendants and friends, working them into every conversation. I suppose as a writer (ahem), I shouldn't have been surprised by the power of words, but these started to feel enormous and weighty, as if our whole bodies had been dipped in gold instead of just our rings. I hadn't thought anything could feel more serious and permanent than when we moved in together and combined our book collections, but being married made everything that had come before feel like a dress rehearsal.

2. You work differently.
One of the most satisfying shifts in changing from an established couple to a married one is the feeling that everything we do is for both of us. When I sold my first novel, Mike and I both cried. It had been a long time coming; there were four previous novels, all rejected, and Mike had been there for all of them. The first thing I said to him after the offer came in was that we now had the money to renovate our basement to be his graphic-design studio. This made both of us cry even harder. It was my success, sure, but more than that, it was ours. I may have written all the words, but he had given me the space I needed to write them. He'd also cleaned the house often and made dinner and believed that it was going to happen. And when it did, it was our triumph together.
3. You fight differently.
In each of my previous relationships, all I'd needed as an itchy trigger finger and then it was done — poof, over — usually around the six-month mark. When Mike and I fought before we were married, getting out was always an option. We did break up once, after about a year. It lasted a month, only because I was out of the country. If I'd been home, it would've been three days; if we'd already been married, it wouldn't have even been a fight. Of course marriages can end, but no capriciously. Being married means that there are structures to be dismantled, paperwork to be filled out. One needs more than a passing fancy, more than one bad mood. Marriage means sticking it out, knowing that there will be storms but that the boat is sturdy.

4. You look at the world differently.
Security is not a sexy word. No one goes to brunch with her girlfriends and coos about how steady she feels, her toes curling under the table. But for me, it's the best feeling in the world. I was lucky to have a supportive family; my parents, my brother, and I always felt like a unit, as solid as a house of bricks. That's what being married feels like: a new house, just as solid, right next door. And if confidence in what we have is sexy, then we're the hottest couple for miles around.
5. The world looks at you differently.
For some people, being married doesn't substantially change things. But to me, it makes things different because it's a highly public act of faith, hope, and optimism. Most of the time, we keep our hopes and dreams tucked safely out of sight, but marriage puts them on display, like so many wedding cakes in a bakery window. And that mere act turns the relationship into something that others — your friends, your family — have a stake in. You have a standard to live up to for the rest of your lives, but you've also got all these other people cheering you on and helping you hit the mark.
6. Time moves differently.
It's been six years now — the same amount of time that we were together before we got married. I brought this up to Mike the other day and asked him which he thought felt longer. He said the first six years, and I agree. The time it took for us to get from being strangers working the same office to being married felt like a hundred lifetimes, each with multiple possible outcomes, like a Choose Your Own Adventure book. Being together — married, a team — has made the last six feel like a blink.

The shows at Paris Fashion Week just wrapped, and we're bringing you our top five looks from the Spring/Summer 2015 collections to inspire your own wedding-day style. From the powerful confidence of Elie Saab's gown to the most delicate lace to Giambattista Valli's masterful cascading embroidery, the Parisian runways were full of designs to inspire your bridal style.
Alessandro Dell'Acqua: Dell'Acqua's third collection for Rochas, the French house known for ladylike dressing, played with beautiful transparency, texture, and paired graceful fabrics with various types of lace. We love this short mod dress with transparent mid-length skirt for the wedding after party.
Giambattista Valli: This collection focused on streamlined shapes (a contrast to the feats of construction he shown in the past) pared down to focus on the body, and thereby, the woman. This beautiful soft-white column features cascading floral embroidery (similar to the embroidery of Amal Alamuddin's pre-ceremony dress from Valli's Fall 2014 haute couture collection — love!), which seems destined for a springtime garden celebration.

Valentino: Dreaming of a seaside wedding on the French Riviera? Step beyond anything you've seen on Pinterest and take a minute to take in the delicate air of this Valentino beauty. The nude organza gown, with its plunging neckline and whisper thin fabric, is simultaneously sexy and refined; perfect for an evening ceremony on the Cote d'Azur.
Elie Saab: Bridal-world favorite Elie Saab never fails to impress, and this spring the designer is back with his fail-proof gowns and romantic silhouette-defining embroideries. This lace dress is entirely bridal, with a bold spirit — a reimagined take on the Elie Saab dress worn by Brides cover girl Olivia Palermo.
Ellery: Australian-born and Central St. Martins educated, designer Kym Ellery's collection for Ellery once again included eveningwear with a twist. We loved the final look of her show, this ultra-chic pant look, paired with a strapless top of cloudlike organza; the fluid shape of the top renders a bouquet entirely optional.
See Rare, Original Photos from JFK and Jackie Kennedy's Wedding Day!

President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy's 61st wedding anniversary was on September 12, but today, we got a look at some original negatives from their iconic wedding day that are set to go on auction this month.
Pictures and stories from their wedding at St. Mary's Church in Newport, Rhode Island, have been in circulation since that historic day, when socialite Jackie (née Bouvier) married the dashing young Massachusetts senator. Even before the Presidency, their union was such a buzzed-about event that Life magazine sent a photographer to capture the day.
The new photos, though, are a collection of most likely unpublished negatives that were snapped by a separate photographer, in case something happened to the primary images. "The images were taken by a freelance photographer, Arthur Borges, of Fall River, MA who had been asked to be a 'back-up' photographer for the wedding," says Bobby Livingston, Exec VP at RR Auction, the house that is auctioning the negatives. "They were discovered by family members in his darkroom after his passing in 1993."
Photos: Courtesy of RR Auction
Borges' photos offer a different angle of the entire bridal party (which looks like it included a dog!), their emergence from the church, and their cake-cutting. We love how the candid nature of the photos offer a more natural look at what's become a seminal day in wedding history.
The future President and First Lady's wedding was very much the social event of the season — they had an estimated 700 guests at the ceremony and 1,200 at the reception. As Life put it, "Their wedding turned out to be the most impressive the old society stronghold had seen in 30 years."
If the wedding went off without a hitch, Jackie's dress wasn't so much of a success, at least in her eyes. The famous gown was far from what she would have chosen, according to Time. "She had wanted a simple dress with sleek, straight lines, but bowed to family pressure to wear something more traditional, despite thinking it looked like a lampshade," the magazine states, citing the book What Jackie Taught Us.
Whether or not hindsight taught her that the classic look was a great choice, we think it holds up as an example of gorgeous 1950's fashion!
Do You Really Need a Wedding Program?

Some things in your wedding are absolutely necessary: A dress (be it traditionally white or a trendy, colorful frock of your choosing), a ceremony with some sort of vows, and a party to celebrate after. What you do from there, is up to you. Many couples choose to stick to tradition by having a bridal party, a cake, and printed invitations. But some customary big-day items may feel excessive. One prime example? Ceremony programs. Here, why you do or don't need a lineup of events to come.
Do I really need a program at my wedding ceremony?
Of course not. What you choose to have your wedding is completely up to you. Sure, a program helps punctuate the course of events, and may be very helpful if you're holding a lengthy, traditional ceremony like a Catholic one, for example. If you want to give credit to vendors or highlight any important people in both of your lives like family members, a friend who introduced you two, etc, this is also the place to do it. Then again, if you want a program solely to announce the key players in your big day, you can do just the same on your wedding website. You can also map out a general plan for the ceremony on your site, too, if you want. Again, the choice is completely up to you! No one will miss the program if you choose not to have one, but if you're throwing a more formal wedding, it's a nice added touch. Regardless it won't make or break your big day.

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin's wedding last weekend at the Aman Canal Grande in Venice, Italy was not only extremely elegant but also a full-on family affair. The high-profile newlyweds asked family-friend Nora Sagal to sing during the ceremony and for their first dance, they had four speakers at the reception, one of which, was Clooney's father, Nick, a journalist and former TV news anchor.
What makes his speech even more special — besides he and his beloved son's close relationship — is the fact that the younger Clooney has referred to his parents loving marriage many times as a model and hope for his a lasting relationship of his own one day. So it's no wonder that his dad's words meant a lot to the groom, and, thanks to People, we have excerpts from the heartwarming speech

First, the elder Clooney listed all of the amazing things about that evening: "The loveliest, most intriguing city on the planet. CHECK. A glittering assembly of accomplished people. CHECK. A beautiful bride. CHECK. A nervous groom. CHECK."
"We are deep in the age of irony. ... We cherish our guilty pleasure of skepticism," Clooney continued. "Then here comes George, the crown prince of irony, getting down on one basketball-battered knee and asking the savvy Amal to marry him. And if you think that's crazy, Amal said 'YES!' "
"In their tidal wave of generosity," the beaming father went on, "Amal and George present us with one more gift. Hope. No, it's more than hope. Hope is too ephemeral. ... It is belief that in this place and at this moment, love is alive and well."
How sweet! From Clooney and Alamuddin's romance it's clear to see that love really is alive and well.

Shimmery lips, sleek chignons, and the ever-popular braid were some of our favorite red-carpet looks this week. Here, a few you'll love to try for your wedding day.
Diane Kruger at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Hollywood Costume Opening Party: Is there a look that Kruger can't effortlessly pull off? Shimmery pink lipstick and silver eye shadow looks clean and classic when worn with easy, undone hair and full, groomed brows. Keep your cheeks subtle — just a bit of cream blush will do the trick — to prevent a sparkle overload.
Selena Gomez at the Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2015 Runway Show: Gomez's halo braid shows us plaits aren't just for summer brides. In fact, they're the new bridal classic: versatile, flattering, and able to last all day. Like Gomez, it doesn't matter if you get a few stray wisps now and then — this look isn't meant to be absolutely perfect. Pair braids with sexy, glowing makeup (cream bronzer, nude lipstick, and tons of lashes) and you're finished!

Rosamund Pike at the World Premiere of Gone Girl: Brides with chin-length bobs can wear their hair up for their wedding, too! Here's proof: Pike's cropped locks are pulled back into a low, center-parted chignon. (Prefer a softer look? Try a side part — we love it both ways.) Rosy-brown lips, pearlescent highlighter, and white eye shadow on the inner corners of her eyes add a pretty, feminine finish.

The Other Man: Should You Keep Your Opposite Sex Friendships After Marriage?

We've got good news: Just because you've said "I do" doesn't mean you have to chuck your friendships with the opposite sex. In fact, some experts believe keeping them after your wedding day will only enrich the relationship you have with the number one man in your life.
"I can tell you that the wives with the highest marital satisfaction have a tight circle of wild and warm friends — men and women — that feed the many arteries of their lives," says Iris Krasnow, relationship expert and author of Sex After: Women Share How Intimacy Changes As Life Changes. "If your fiancé tells you that you must ditch your platonic friendships with the opposite sex, that is a fire-red flag about the trust and jealousy issues that will develop in your marriage."
Opposite-sex, platonic relationships can be, according to Krasnow, "a sexy pick-me-up without the complications of sex and adultery. Women who love the company of men shouldn't have to eliminate male friends from their lives; these extra-marital males who always think we're smart and beautiful — because because they don't live with us! — are actually a relief for any smart husband. Because these benign boyfriends that offer insights and advice from a masculine perspective, it means less work for the man you're married to."

But now that you know you can keep the "other" men in your life, there are a few other things to keep in mind:
Nurture a friendship with your husband, too.
Make sure you aren't telling other men things you can't tell him, or relying on them for the emotional support your husband should be providing.
Have strong same-sex friendships.
While it's totally cool to have a go-to guy friend, he shouldn't be the only friend you keep on speed dial.
Make sure your husband knows all your male friends.
Additionally, he should be comfortable with the level of intimacy and attention you give your guy friends.

Victoria Beckham's Adorable Reason for Saving Her Wedding Dress!

Victoria Beckham certainly has an enviable wardrobe. Not only is soccer star David Beckham's wife and former Spice Girl a major trendsetter, she's also a critically-acclaimed fashion designer. And while trends come and go, there's one piece of clothing in Posh's possession that'll forever remain more valuable than the rest: Her wedding dress!
Recently, the pop-singer-turned-style-icon purged her closet to raise money Mothers2Mothers, a charitable organization. She admitted during the event, though, that she can't bear to part with her iconic Vera Wang wedding dress. The reason the mother of four had to keep it? She's saving it for her daughter, Harper. Cue a major awwww.
Her wedding dress isn't the only sentimental piece she held on to. She also kept the dress she wore when she first went on a date with David, to whom she's been married for 15 years!

"I kept my wedding dress," she told British publication Mirror. "I couldn't give away the dress I first wore when I went out with David. It was a little high-street suede mini-dress so I've kept that for her."
This isn't the first recent resurgence of her wedding wears. Just last November, Victoria's famed "East of Paris" gold and diamond tiara went on auction in London for an estimated $28,963 to $40,227.
It's no wonder Victoria wants to save her wedding dress for little Harper — her look was so memorable that items from that not have not only gone on auction, but her big-day gown also landed a spot in our list of the most iconic wedding dresses of all time.
Sarah Knight Reveals How She Balances Wedding Planning, Her Job as Assistant to Giuliana Rancic and a Long Distance Relationship

Meet our latest real wedding blogger Sarah Knight, personal assistant to Giuliana Rancic at E! Entertainment. Sarah is in the midst of planning her Los Angeles wedding and she's going to share each step of the process. From guest list tips to cake tasting with G while her fiancé is away playing baseball, follow Sarah's journey as she navigates the dos and dont's of wedding planning!
Planning a wedding is no easy task. As many of us working brides know, balancing your career and relationships while organizing the biggest and best day of your life can drive you crazy!
I have a super busy (yet extremely fun!) job as the personal assistant to Giuliana Rancic from E! Entertainment. Plus, I am long distance with my fiancé for six months out of the year since he plays baseball. So the thought of planning the wedding of our dreams, while balancing all of this stressed me out just a little. I'm sure there are many career-focused brides out there who are experiencing these same feelings, so I'm sharing my tips on how to maintain your sanity, thrive in your relationship, and actually enjoy the wedding-planning process.
Take a deep breath and make a plan.
I am a list person so I immediately searched for the perfect notebook to keep me organized. Erin Condren makes the best organizers and it was an added bonus that she created one especially for the bride-to-be! And how cute is it that it can be personalized with your photo on the front cover?! (Check mine out above!) It comes fully equipped with a calendar, vendor checklist, lined paper for those never-ending lists and markers for color coding. This is the stuff I dream about at night ...

If possible, hire a wedding planner.
This was the best decision we made in the wedding planning process. I met our fabulous planner, Alicia Townsend from Details, Details, through a mutual friend prior to getting engaged. Not only is Alicia smart, professional and stylish, she is also so much fun! She's someone that I want to hang out with, which is so important when selecting your coordinator. And I know budget can stand in the way of hiring a wedding planner for many brides, but in my experience, hiring a pro has helped me save money. Professionals know the ins and outs of the industry and will make sure that you're not being taken advantage of by a vendor. Consider splurging on a planner instead of another big-ticket item if you can make it work.
Don't let "wedding talk" take over your relationship with your fiancé.
I admit it: I am guilty of talking about my wedding plans — a lot. But, when it comes to my day-to-day conversations with my fiancé, I have reeled in my flower arrangement and oh-so-important place cards chatter. While he loves giving input and receiving photos of the latest and greatest ideas for ribbon tying, he also wants to hear about how I am doing and what my day was like — especially since we're long distance. It's easy to get caught up in talking about wedding plans, so make it a priority to set aside a date night or even a full day (is it really possible?!) without talking about your wedding. Not only will you be proud of yourself for accomplishing such a seemingly impossible task, but your fiancé will thank you too!
How to Get Perfect Legs for Your Honeymoon

A gown may cover your legs with yards of tulle or organza—but those weeks of pre-wedding squats and lunges aren't for naught. As soon as you step off the plane for your honeymoon, it's time to show them off. Here's how to get smooth, glowing legs for every moment t— and every Insta pic—of your getaway.
Step 1: Prep
Use a gentle body scrub before lathering up with shaving cream to remove dirt, residue, and dead skin cells from follicles, making hair way easier to remove and reducing razor burn. We love Molton Brown's warming body scrub ($48, available at Amazon) with eucalyptus and menthol.
Step 2: Get smooth
Throw out that months-old disposable razor you've been recycling in favor of a fresh blade. Try a razor with moisturizing lotion built in, like Venus + Olay ($9.47, available at Walmart). Waxers, book your appointment for a few days before the honeymoon, so any lingering redness has time to dissipate before you take off.
See More: 15 Wedding-Day Beauty Emergencies and How to Solve Them
Step 3: Moisturize
To keep dry skin and irritation at bay, slather on a body cream (they're heavier than lotions) right after you get out of the shower to maximize absorption. Try L'Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Body Cream ($42, available at Amazon).
Step 4: Bronze
We're all for embracing the pale, but if you want a little color for your honeymoon, skip the dangerous tanning beds and fake it with self-tanner. If you're a newbie, go for a gradual formula, like L'Oreal Sublime Glow ($9.50, available at Amazon), which builds color over time. (Make sure to do a trial run a few weeks before your wedding!) If you're a veteran, try a spray-on formula like St. Tropez Self-Tan Bronzing Spray ($35, available at Amazon), which makes legs look extra-radiant in those beach photos.
Step 5: Protect
Don't ruin all your hard work with a painful, peeling sunburn. You should already be applying an SPF 30 or higher sunscreen daily anyway, but be extra vigilant on your honeymoon when you're out and about all day, often in direct sun. We love Neutrogena Wet Skin ($9, available at Amazon), which can go on immediately after you get out of the pool (or ocean).

WATCH: A Man Proposes to His Girlfriend at a One Direction Concert

A few months ago, One Direction's Harry Styles jokingly (albeit adorably) proposed to a fan in a wedding dress at the band's Philadelphia concert. That was cute and all, but last night, the entire band took love to the next level at their Atlanta tour stop — they helped a man propose to his girlfriend in the audience!
Bradley Chisenhall created a special Twitter account a few days before the concert, and sent a straightforward, and, apparently, convincing, tweet to all of the One Directioners asking for their help.
Help me propose to my girlfriend tomorrow night at the show. @Harry_Styles @Real_Liam_Payne @NiallOfficial @zayncomecu @Louis_Tomlinson
— Bradley Chisenhall (@ChisenhallAL) October 1, 2014
The gambit worked (Chisenhall's now fiancée didn't get Twitter until after the proposal, so she never caught wise) and all five of the band members got the hashtag #1DProposal trending, getting fans extra excited about the moment. And excited they got. Last night, some truly invested people even found Chisenhall in the audience.
IM SO NERVOUS AND EXCITED FOR HIM AT THE SAME TIME

— AshlEEy (@narrymycake) October 2, 2014
Before his girlfriend had a chance to notice the obvious ring box in his pocket, Harry Styles found a break in the show and gave a shout-out to "a friend in the audience," which signaled the proposal moment. Obviously, his girlfriend, Christine Kozlowski, was ecstatic and said yes. The best part? They made it on the Jumbotron and got a photo with Harry Styles himself. If her engagement doesn't make all of her friends jealous, then the photo definitely will!

Interior Designer Danielle Colding's Sophisticated Wedding in Brooklyn, NY

- Hits: 353
Every wedding starts with a proposal, but Danielle Colding and Frederic Troadec's is a little different — he proposed twice! In early May of 2014, the couple got engaged for the first time, in a truly practical manner. "The conversation went something like 'Should we do it?' 'Ok, let's pick a date,'" says Danielle. "We easily settled on August 16th, 2014, a year after we started dating, and Frederic went downstairs to our favorite restaurant to see if it was available, and that was that."
On July 22nd, when the couple was knee-deep into planning, they had a second, more storybook moment. "He invited me to meet him at Bemelmans Bar at the Carlyle Hotel," says the bride, "one of his favorite places in the city." After a round of drinks, Fred presented Danielle with rose macarons, her favorite dessert. Inside the second macaron was a ring, and he whispered his proposal in her ear.
The couple kept their wedding simple, nodding to Fred's French heritage and hosting an elegant dinner party with incredible food and wine at Bacchus in Brooklyn, New York. Danielle, winner of season seven of HGTV's Design Star and acclaimed interior designer, focused on the ambiance and created a relaxed, bohemian feel that was perfect for their outdoor celebration.
Read on for all the details, and to see the gorgeous photos by Margarita Corporan.
Danielle's dress shopping began with a trip to Haute Hippie, where she tried on this gold sequined gown with a draped bodice. "Everyone in the showroom gasped when I came out of the dressing room," says the bride. She shopped around for white dresses, but nothing measured up. "It was so comfortable, the perfect silhouette for my shape, and just so me."
She paired her gown with blush Christian Louboutin slingbacks, a glitzy blush clutch, and statement earrings. Her bouquet featured a relaxed collection of blush dahlias and white roses, a soft addition to her glam look.
This bride knows her accessories, donning an oversized ring borrowed from Erickson Beamon. Another sweet accessory? The couple's dog, who wore a collar of greenery for the occasion.
"I didn't work with a wedding planner," says Danielle, "but I turned to my friends in the bridal industry to help me work out all the details." One such friend? Our very own Editor in Chief, Keija Minor.
The ceremony took place in the courtyard at Bacchus. The tree's branches, strung with lights, served as the altar. The aisle was lined with bunches of babies breath, the bride's favorite flower from childhood.
Danielle walked herself down the aisle to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. The ceremony was officiated by Shaman Durek, a healer the couple is close with, and included two readings, including "On Marriage" by Kahlil Gabran. "My mother passed away, and the same poem was read at her wedding," says Danielle. "It was a way to include her."
"We didn't go into the planning process with a vision," says Danielle. "We had a feeling we wanted to achieve, and it evolved from there."
The pair worked with Kat of Kat Flower to top the tables, using a combination of small centerpieces and individual blossoms in mismatched vases.
The 80 guests sat at long tables, topped with dahlias and roses, for the French-inspired meal. "One of my favorite details was having the menu written out on an antique mirror," says Danielle. The six course meal included Melon au Porto, Miso-glazed cod, and roasted rack of lamb, and guests sipped kir and Prosecco and rosé. For dessert, everyone nibbled on a selection of pastries, including the bride's favorite rose macarons.
Danielle surprised Fred with a wedding cake. "He's a chocolate fanatic," she says of the fondant-covered layers. The simple decorations included gold bands and "beaucoup beaucoup" written on top. "It means 'very much' in French," says Danielle, "and it's what Fred always says to me instead of saying he loves me." After dinner, the party headed inside for a DJ-fueled '90s dance party. "We had a blast!" says the bride.
The couple honeymooned in upstate New York, relaxing along a river. "Being married doesn't feel that different," says Danielle. "Except when we're talking to other people — it still feels strange to say 'husband,' but the important thing is that we're incredibly happy."
If you love Danielle's style as much as we do, check out the October 2014 issue of Lonny to see what inspires her.

5 Things to Know When It Comes to Your Signature Cocktail

Having a signature cocktail for your wedding sounds easy enough, until it comes time to figure out exactly what that should be. Specific taste preferences aside, there are some general tips every couple should know to help them craft their custom drink. Ricki Quarterman, CEO of Mixology Bartending Services and Fred Parent, co-founder of Mixed Neat share the most important things to consider.
1. Use fresh ingredients.
Tell your bartender to use fresh ingredients, such as seasonal fruits, squeezed juices, and homemade syrups, whenever possible, advises Parent. The reason for this is twofold. First, fresh ingredients make a higher quality cocktail that tastes better and is more balanced. But fresh ingredients also contain less sugar than prepackaged mixers. Too much sugar with alcohol is a deadly combination that is not only extremely unhealthy, but guaranteed to lead to bad decisions and one hell of a hangover.
2. Keep in mind the color of your drink.
When designing your drink, don't just think about your favorite flavors and spirits, but also the color of the final outcome. "Cocktails that have a lighter hue look a lot more appealing than something dark like brown or purple," says Quarterman. "For couples who are really into color coordination, I always advise them to pick a drink that matches the brightest shade in their palette."

3. Know the tradeoff between the complexity of the drink and quantity/speed it can be served.
If your signature cocktail requires 10 steps to make and needs to be individually shaken, then be prepared to see a line at the bar, warns Quarterman. "If you're just serving your signature drink for a short period of time and want everyone to try it, then you should pick something that can be made in a big batch so all the bartender needs to do is pour." On the flip side, if you want your signature cocktail to be something that guests savor slowly all evening, then a more carefully-crafted cocktail would add to that experience, says Parent.
4. Consider a classic with a twist.
If you're at a loss for where to start, choose a classic and let the bartender experiment with different ingredients to change up the flavor profile. "A cosmopolitan is always a classic choice," says Parent. "But using cranberry juice can make the drink feel a bit generic. Instead, talk to your mixologist to see if he can use a homemade grenadine and swap in a more unique fruit — such as pomegranate — instead."
5. For the safest bet, go with a vodka base.
"Usually if the couple isn't set on having a very specific type of alcohol, we try to convince them to use vodka as the base for their signature cocktail," says Quarterman. "Almost everyone can stomach vodka, but not everyone can tolerate bourbon or cognac or tequila. Vodka is also one of the easiest spirits to mix with, so we can create all different kinds of flavors for the drink. And if the groom wants something a little stronger or less fruity, then we'll create a second cocktail using a different type of spirit, but it's always good to have a vodka option for your guests."

It's that time of year again! Bridal Fashion Week is fast-approaching. To gear up for the Fall 2015 wedding dress collections, we sat down with the creative director behind one of our favorite bridal brands, Theia, to get a sneak peek at their latest range. Here, what inspired Don O'Neill's latest collection for Theia, plus his shopping tips for brides-to-be.
Brides: What is the inspiration for your upcoming collection?
Don O'Neill: For this show we're going to Mongolia in the winter (Ed note: You can see Don's inspiration, above). When I started working on the collection, I was inspired by a beautiful Mongolian lamb. It was a beautiful ivory color and it just looked to me like warm, cozy, and luxurious and it sort of took life from there. I mixed my own Irish heritage with the heritage of the tribes of Mongolia — blending in cashmeres and as I said the exotic fur of the Mongolian lambs and chunky embroideries and heavy laces (see below!). The whole idea is to be cozy, warm and luxurious.
Photo: Courtesy of Theia
Brides: How would you describe the Theia bride?
O'Neill: The Theia bride is number one and above all elegant. The whole idea behind the label in general is true to being a goddess. And like a goddess, there's this special light that comes from within on your wedding day — which is very much part of what Theia's all about. And to think that my dress helps her feel special on that very magical day is what I strive for when I'm dressing a bride.
Brides: What bridal trends are you loving at the moment?
O'Neill: Well, this season, I've been thinking a lot about texture. And mixed with the texture, volume — but soft volume. A lot of my skirts this season are very full, we've put big circle skirts onto the gowns with tulle and chiffons that are 10 and 12 yards. It's all about having lots and lost of beautiful volume swirling around you. At the same time keeping the line long and lean with very special embroideries.
Brides: What silhouettes can we expect to see from you this go-round?
O'Neill: So far nothing is particularly huge. Last season, I had giant huge ball gowns, so this time I still have volume but I've taken away the crinolines. So you're not going to be knocking people over going up the aisle, but you'll still have the luxury of all that fabric swirling around you as you walk.
Brides: How would you say this collection is different from previous collections?
O'Neill: My last collection was Celtic fairy goddesses rising up out of the ocean. So this time basically my girls are up in the mountains, herding cashmere goats, and they're in the high Himalayas and they're coming through snow into a new existence. So it's a very different girl, from a very different part of the world, with a different aesthetic. It will be interesting to see how my frozen ice queen compares to my Irish sea fairy goddesses.
Brides: What are your top wedding dress shopping tips?
O'Neill: First of all you should know your own body and what you look good in. So that when you go into the bridal salon and you're faced with a thousand dresses you can narrow it down very quickly. And actually listen to the sales associates because they're very good at what they do.
When you're in the dress, you should listen to your instincts. A lot of girls tend to listen to the four to five other people that came with them, and at the end of the day you're the one looking in the mirror on your wedding day. There are girls who have a specific idea from when they were very little of what they thought they'd look like on their wedding day, but I think when you put on the right dress and you look in the mirror you'll know exactly that the dress is right for you.
7 Fresh Takes on the Wedding Guestbook

Everyone has seen that standard, run-of-the-mill wedding guestbook. The problem is, most guests have already written a thoughtful note in their card, and thinking of another heartwarming message on the spur of the moment doesn't always come so easily. So couples are either left with a book of signatures or a series of half-hearted messages. The solution? An alternative guestbook! Couples are getting creative and offering guests alternatives to the blank book, like photo albums or prompts, which are ultimately more meaningful and are sure to be treasured for years to come. Here are some of our favorite creative guestbooks:
The Dictionary (above)
This couple provided a beautiful dictionary with a note inviting guests to circle a word they felt described the bride and groom as a pair, and then sign their name by the choice. It's a super sweet idea, and you can neatly tuck the dictionary away on bookcase and take out on special days.
The Picnic Table
This couple wanted guests to leave their mark on something they could enjoy each and everyday, so they asked guests to use paint pens and sign a piece of stained yellow pine. They used a chalkboard to instruct guests to sign the plank that would ultimately become the centerpiece of their backyard picnic table.
The Vintage Typewriter
Typewriters have become a popular alternative to the classic guestbook, and for good reason! Taking the time to type out your message gives you the opportunity to collect your thoughts, and whether you share a message big or small, the antique-style feels special. Plus, they provided gold wax seals, so the entire process of "signing" the guest book was a fun and interactive part of their wedding reception.
The Photo Album
What's easier than snapping your photo and leaving it for the bride and groom? This couple capitalized on their Old Hollywood theme and provided cameras for guests to photograph themselves and create a hilarious album for the bride and groom to take home.
The Art Piece
To make sure they could see their guestbook daily, this couple created a piece of art that guests could sign. Their two thumbprints overlap to make a heart and friends and family signed their names in the available space.
The Puzzle
Consider offering a puzzle for guests to sign. It's meaningful (since each guest leaves their mark on one piece of your puzzle) and practical (since there's just enough space to sign a name). Friends and family won't feel pressured to leave long notes, and you and your groom can bring it out and rebuild the pieces to remember your wedding.
The Map
This is an especially great idea if you're hosting a destination wedding or have guests from around the world. Have your friends and family sign a map from their hometown, or a place that hold meaning for them. This couple used a print on cloth that they could then hang, but a classic paper map would look beautiful framed, too!
Find Out George Clooney's First Dance Song!

For one of this year's most iconic and star-studded weddings, we'd expect the entertainment to be top-notch. But instead of opting for a big hitter like guest Bono to sing for their first dance, George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin made a surprising choice.
Apparently, the newly-minted Clooneys asked close family friend Nora Sagal, who is the teenage daughter of Warner Bros. executive David Sagal to perform at their ceremony and at their reception. According to Clooney, the girl is an untapped source of talent.
"[She] sang 'Always' during the ceremony," Clooney told People in their cover story. Fun fact: "Always" was actually the song that Clooney's parents danced to at their wedding years ago. That wasn't the only tune she crooned: Sagal sang yet again for their first dance a classic, Cole Porter's "Why Shouldn't I?"

But his wedding wasn't the first time Clooney had his younger friend sing for him — he enlisted Sagal's help while working on Monuments Men, having her record a rendition "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" for the film.
"[She] is just an insanely talented singer, and I had her record that at her school," Clooney said to Collider back in February. "She recorded that song and we just used it." The star adds, "It's spectacular. She's a real talent."
We're sure she is! And we're not surprised to see Clooney and Alamuddin select such timeless songs for their big day — the whole Venetian affair was so sophisticated and classic, that like their playlist, we're sure it will stand the test of time.
Cute and Creative Alternatives to Tried-and-True Wedding Traditions

You spend a ton of time and money planning your wedding so why shouldn't it be a total reflection of you and your fiancé (at least to an extent, anyway)? Whether you're an offbeat bride or you just don't know any little kids to walk down the aisle, you can still put a twist on tradition and personalize your big day with these alternative ideas.
Toss a breakaway bouquet
Don't want to nix the whole bouquet toss tradition altogether? Then gather all your single girl friends out on the dance floor and surprise them with a breakaway bouquet instead. "Many individual flowers or wrapped portions of the toss bouquet are tied together with a string, which the bride surreptitiously removes before tossing the bouquet," explains Lynn Jawitz, owner of Florisan Wedding and Event Design in NYC. "All of the ladies who are expecting one bouquet to come flying are surprised when many individual bouquets come showering down upon them, giving them each their own piece of the toss bouquet to take back to their seats."
Give your dog the ring bearer job
Or flower girl! It's no secret many of us consider our dog to be a part of our family so including them in the ceremony is pretty much a no-brainer. Associate planner and event designer at Pure Luxe Bride, Blake Bush, is absolutely loving this new trend. "They make the most adorable flower girls and ring bearers — or even as a companion to walk down the aisle with the groom," she says.

Do an anniversary first dance
If being the center of attention isn't exactly your thing, an anniversary dance is the perfect way to share some of the spotlight. According to wedding planner Shafonne Myers, founder of Pretty Pear Bride, an anniversary dance is when all married couples report to the dance floor, and as the song plays, the DJ calls out years of marriage. "Typically you start out with being married for 30 minutes (the bride and groom) and work your way up in years," she notes. "It's great because the song ends on the couple that has been married the longest, highlighting them as well as you and your husband."
Plant a tree to symbolize your unity
Calling all free-spirited, green brides! Keep things down to earth on your big day and bring both families together by planting a tree. "It's a fabulous alternative to lighting a traditional unity candle, and the couple could water the tree during the ceremony and later plant it at their new home," offers event designer Veronica Cole. "Then you can watch it grow for years to come."
Do one big father-daughter dance
And/or mother son dance. "This is such a winning idea, especially for larger weddings with lots of family members," says Lynn D'Ascanio of D'Asigner Events. "Let the couple dance for the first minute or so, then have the DJ ask the guests if there are any other fathers and daughters (or sons and mothers) who would like to join the couple on the dance floor. Brides and grooms often love this idea since they're not the soul focus of attention for three to four minutes straight."
Meet the In-Laws: How to Get Your Families Together for the First Time

A wedding isn't just the joining together of two people, it's also the joining of two — and sometimes more — families. If your parents and your fiancé's parents and/or family have never met or don't know each other very well, you have an obligation to arrange a gathering of some sort. But don't fret about this slightly stressful endeavor! We have a few etiquette expert-approved tips that should help facilitate this big moment.
If they've never met or spoken to one another before, find a way to make an introduction before they meet in person.
It matters very little who makes the first move, though a bride's parents might want to wait a bit to give the groom's family a chance to honor custom. A phone call (or, if you feel comfortable using it, Skype or FaceTime) is the easiest route; if the couple lives near one set of parents, they might all get together for a conference call. Handwritten notes are always nice. E-mail is possible, and some people may find its casual tone an easier way to introduce themselves and express their pleasure at the engagement. Both sets of parents should act with spontaneity and in the spirit of friendship, regardless of who makes the first contact.
Who hosts the first get-together?
It's traditionally the responsibility of the groom's parents, but the diversity of today's family structure, not to mention hectic work and travel schedules, often makes it difficult to follow custom. The bride-and groom-to-be are best positioned to know when a meeting will be convenient for everyone and what kind of gathering is most likely to put everyone at ease. Who actually hosts the occasion is a matter of preference more than tradition. If the bride's mother loves to entertain, why stand on tradition? A casual event, such as a barbecue or weeknight dinner, is often most comfortable.
My parents are divorced. How do I handle that?
Unfortunately, your engagement means you have to carefully think about your family structure and have realistic expectations. Separate meetings should be arranged with each set of parents so that everyone involved has a chance to meet. Under no circumstances should divorced parents be forced into social situations that have the potential to make them — and others — feel uncomfortable. If your parents are on decent, friendly terms, then perhaps they wouldn't mind being at a casual get-together with several other family members present to ease the situation. Otherwise, let it be.

What to Do with Those Ugly Wedding Gifts

We've all seen them: Gravy boats decorated in a goose pattern, or abstract art that looks as if it's the work of a two-year-old gone amuck with a paint brush. But what happens when you're on the receiving end of one of these gifts gone rogue from your wedding registry?
"There aren't very many circumstances where it's appropriate to tell the sender that you do not like the gift," says etiquette expert Diane Gottsman. So suck it up and send a sincere thank-you note. "A thank-you note thanks the giver for their thoughtfulness and kindness, not just the present itself," Gottsman says. As you would with any hand-written thank you, be sure to mention the gift by name and express gratitude for the giver's efforts.
After that, you're under no obligation to display the gift or, in some circumstances, even keep it. "If you know the store it came from, you can exchange it for something else you might use," suggests Gottsman. "You can donate it to charity, or save it and use it another time." Just beware re-gifting it, as the new recipient could ask for a gift receipt.

In the case of custom presents or family heirlooms, it's best to keep the gift stored somewhere out of sight, bringing it out only when you know the giver will visit. "If they drop in unexpectedly and catch you with the gift not on display, you can explain that you rotate your [things] with the seasons to give each piece a chance to be in the spotlight," suggests Gottsman.
Finally, if the gift is of substantial value or size, such as an expensive piece of artwork that doesn't match your tastes, Gottsman says to be honest by saying, "This is such a generous gift. We truly appreciate the gesture, but we won't be able to use it — or, it's much too big for our small, one-bedroom apartment — and we would like for you to find someone that truly can use this generous offer."

After what feels like one of the longest Hollywood pregnancy ever, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are finally parents! According to the TMZ the engaged pair welcomed their first child on Tuesday, September 30 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Their newborn daughter, whose name has not been revealed yet, is said to be doing well. "She's here and healthy," People reports. Just weeks before the birth, Kutcher tweeted about his feelings on awaiting parenthood, seen below, which is common for any first-time dad.

Earlier this year, Kunis told Ellen DeGeneres that she was planning giving birth without medication, saying, "I'm going to do it as all natural as I possibly can unless there's an emergency or something that should go wrong. I did this to myself, I might as well just do it right. I wanted this!"

Now we just need to wait to find out the tot's name! According to The Stir, Finn, to represent Kutcher's mother's maiden name Finnegan, is a top contender. While they're just rumors, we have to admit Finn Kutcher is a pretty adorable name for what is sure to be one very adorable little girl.
And now that they've finally welcomed baby Kutcher-Kunis, it's time to get serious about planning the wedding. The pair got engaged last February, just weeks before announcing their pregnancy. One thing's for sure: They've got their flower girl lined up!
Did Lady Gaga Secretly Marry Taylor Kinney?!

For all her off-the-wall onstage antics, Lady Gaga has been in a refreshingly stable relationship with hunky Chicago Fire actor Taylor Kinney for three years. Gaga stoked wedding rumors over the summer when she was spotted browsing through wedding dresses with her mother, but now marriage talk is going into overdrive, thanks to an Instagram photo.
Kinney's co-star Sophia Bush posted a photo (seen below) yesterday of her hugging Kinney, her on-screen love interest. He's pretty obviously wearing a wedding ring on his left ring finger — and it's not for the show. "I'm REALLY excited to be on @nbcchicagofire tonight!" Bush captioned the image. "Just about as excited as I was to see my buddy #TaylorKinney at our press day yesterday. Bear hugs are the best hugs. #ChicagoFire #ChicagoPD #ThatsHisPersonalRing #NotForTheShow #EveryoneCalmDown #LindsayAndSeverideArentMarried." See that? She said it's his personal ring, not for the show! Unless it's some kind of "mangagement" ring, we have a feeling that he and Gaga might have secretly tied the knot.
Though she's kept relatively mum about her future with Kinney, Lady Gaga did open up to Howard Stern earlier this year about her appreciation for her longtime love. "To be fair, he has stuck it out with me for a very long time through drug habits and all those sorts of things," she said. "So he's a really lovely, amazing person."
For now, only time will tell if that ring is just a red herring. If it's not, we may have to start demanding wedding dress pictures ASAP!

Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard's Engagement Left Him a Nervous Wreck!

Last week Florida Georgia Line's Tyler Hubbard pulled off a super romantic proposal to girlfriend Hayley Stommel. The country crooner planned an elaborate evening, including an intimate helicopter ride, plenty of celebratory champagne, and quality alone time. And while he seemed totally put together and confident in their post-proposal Instagram photo (seen above), the singer was actually a nervous wreck!
Hubbard recently opened up about the engagement, and how he kept cool under pressure. "I had the ring for about three weeks or so," Hubbard tells CMT News. "I didn't know exactly how I wanted to do it, so I was trying to be patient with it."

Ultimately, Hubbard came up with the helicopter idea in one of the most unromantic locations: the gym! "I just met this guy last week on a private jet that we were on who happened to live 10 minutes from my house and have a helicopter," Hubbard says. "We just kind of hit it off. I don't know why, but it hit me one day. I was in the gym, and I thought (the helicopter ride) would be a cool way to still propose at the house by not very typically."
While it clearly worked out for the best, his elaborate plan to pop the question had the singer feeling understandably anxious. "It was a cool night. And man, I was nervous as heck."
Luckily, the duo got to wind down with a quiet dinner and time alone in a private room, which Hubbard admits doesn't happen often given his busy schedule.
3 Things Every Bride Can Learn from This Tradition-Focused Wedding in Annapolis, Maryland

For their September 28, 2013 nuptials, Charlotte Kaplan, 28, and Stephen Hughes, 26, had no trouble agreeing on a theme and location. The pair of soon-to-be Navy doctors, who met in medical school in 2010 and fell in love over home-cooked dinners and study sessions, decided to honor Steve's alma mater and their family Naval history with a wedding at the United States Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis. They embraced an all-out Navy theme, selecting blue and gold as their colors and incorporating nautical touches wherever possible.
Vivian Smith of Sapphire Style captured their big day. Take a look at some of our favorite details below.
Make the day special for you both.
With long lines of Naval Officers and Naval Academy graduates in both families, it made perfect sense for Charlotte and Steve to honor the Navy throughout their wedding day. "Getting a wedding date at the United States naval Academy Chapel can be a challenge," says Charlotte, "but Steve attended weekly services there, so we had to at least try to get in! It was such an honor to get married there."
The couple also included a symbolic Navy tradition, the arch of swords. After the ceremony, Steve's swordsmen lifted their sabres for the bride and groom to pass beneath.
Match your dress to your venue (and groom).
With a fear of looking yellow next to her groom's all-white uniform, Charlotte picked an almost pure white Enzoani gown with lace cap sleeves, a scalloped neckline, and a keyhole cutout in the back. In addition to her love of all things lace, Charlotte says she had the venue in mind when selecting her dress. "I chose a long train since I knew I'd have a long aisle to walk down at the chapel!" she says.
Yes, you can DIY.
Though Charlotte and Steve spent most of their 10-month engagement doing med school rotations, they found time for a few DIY projects. Several hundred yards of rope, 200 rubber balls, and a YouTube tutorial helped the bride, her mother-in-law, and her sister-in-law create 200 monkey fist knots to hold the escort cards.

Sometimes, "the whole package" you're getting with your marriage includes his children. And just like you and your man, you form a new family together. It isn't always easy to do, but the relationship is something special. Here, our readers shared with us some of the ways you reached out to your stepchildren before and just after they got married.
"I'm just my silly, goofy self around them. They love me and I love them, but I make sure to let them know that I'm not trying to replace their mother. It really helps that their mother and I have the same views on parenting and similar parenting styles." — Laura S.
"Lucky for me, my stepdaughter's father and I have been together since she was three, and it was love at first sight. I treat her just like she was my own daughter, because to me, she is!" — Amanda D.

"I treat my two stepsons as if I gave birth to them. Their biological mother is nonexistent by her own choice. So, to me, they aren't my "step" sons, they're my sons. During our wedding ceremony, all four of us lit a unity candle together, and I dedicated a song to them called 'Dirty Dishes' by Scott McCreery." — Miranda L.
"We just became close as we got to know each other. I made it clear, they have a mom already, but I wanted to have mutual respect because we all love their father. My future stepdaughter is one of my junior bridesmaids. Looking forward to our future together!" — Simone M.
"I'll have a stepson and a stepdaughter. I treat them no differently than I treat my own son (their brother) and we don't allow the family to play favorites. We have girls' days and the boys will have guys' days. We'll have them both next to us when we say, 'I do!'" — Carmen M.

Floral Wedding Trend: Long Ribbon Bouquets

There's just something so romantic about a lush arrangement of flowers finished with a trail of flowing ribbon. It's also a great way to incorporate pops of color into your bouquet design — you can use multiple strands of the same spool of ribbon, which creates a very elegant and cohesive look, or opt for a variety of ribbons in different complementary shades, textures, and fabrics to create something a bit more whimsical and unexpected. But whatever you decide, the long ribbon bouquet is sure to be dramatic and sophisticated. Here are our favorite ways to pull off this ultra-pretty floral trend.
1. These vibrant coral-pink bouquets (above) combine garden roses and poppies and are tied with coordinating ribbons that cascade past the knees.
2. Florist Holly Chapple created this lush, rustic bouquet featuring a trail of mix-and-match ribbons.
3. We love the romantic combination of cream flowers (how perfect are those clematises?!), fresh greenery, and dip-dyed blue silk ribbons.
4. This cream-and-yellow bouquet is so elegant and sophisticated, not to mention how romantic the yellow ribbons are, fluttering in the breeze.
5. Complement a lush, blush-pink bouquet with multiple strands of satin ribbons in shades of champagne and dusty rose.
6. The extra-long cream-colored ribbons look so elegant against the bridesmaids' solid-color, floor-length dresses.
7. Ask your florist to use a variety of ribbons in different textures and materials to create a wonderfully layered ribbon cascade.
8. Create a sense of drama with a cascade of ribbons that trail all the way down to the floor.

Most brides and grooms choose to decorate their wedding ceremony space with some sort of flowers, fans, candles, altars, or garlands. And why not?! As long as the venue or house of worship allows it, adding some pizzazz helps convey your wedding theme and makes guests feel truly at home in a place you personalized. If you are thinking about your ceremony décor, you should definitely keep some important points in mind before you make a final decision. Here, some things to ask the person in charge at your venue:
• Are there any decorating rules or restrictions? What kinds of floral arrangements/decorations are permitted?
• At what time may decorations be delivered and how will access be arranged? How do you arrange access for a florist to decorate?
• What is the site policy on the disposition of flowers after the ceremony? Is there a policy on removing the flowers after the ceremony? Couples often wish to use flowers as reception decorations; to deliver them to area hospitals or nursing homes; or to give them to friends.
• Are candles permitted as decorations other than within the sanctuary?
• Does the ceremony site provide an aisle runner, should you want to use one, or do you need to order one from the florist?
• For a Jewish ceremony: Who will provide the chuppah and may it be decorated with flowers?

And the cute couple just keeps on getting cuter! Little People Big World's Jeremy Roloff, who married Audrey Botti a little more than a week ago, is having the time of his life on a Jamaican honeymoon with his brand-new wife!
The two lovebirds jetted off to the Caribbean island to relish in their newlywed status after an adorable rustic-meets-boho-chic wedding at Roloff's famed family farm in Oregon. The best part of their honeymoon, though, wasn't only the foreign locale, but the fact that post-nuptials, these two decided to completely unplug and spend quality time together as man and wife. It wasn't until their wedding aired last night on TLC that they decided to rejoin cyber society.

"Greetings from Jamaica, yamon! Today we have been married for a week and have been unplugged until now. Hallelujah. We just wanted to say Praise the Lord. Days filled with joy, books, and a wife. Stoked to watch our wedding with ya'll on @TLC this Tuesday at 9/10 #theroloffwedding #journeyofjerandauj," Jeremy wrote on his Instagram next to an adorable photo of their sun-soaked selves, above.
Audrey, too, marked the week-a-versy with some Instagrams. "Today we've been Mr and Mrs Roloff for one week!" Audrey captioned a photo of their first kiss. "Jer and I have been in Jamaica on a moon full of honey, unplugging from the world, laying on the beach, resting and relaxing, reading to each other, and reminiscing on our wedding day. It was everything we had ever hoped it would be, and more."
She also posted a super-sweet photo of them kissing on a catamaran, above. "Catamaran kisses, no complaints," she wrote next to the photo.
It looks like they're having the time of their lives!
What B.J. Novak Really Thinks About Mindy Kaling's Marriage Comments

What could have been! Mindy Kaling caused a stir during an appearance on The Howard Stern show a few weeks ago when she divulged that her ex, close friend B.J. Novak, was a "great love" of hers.
When Stern prompted the comedian whether she would've married Novak, she replied: "At the time? Yeah. I was 24," she said, adding, "For the record, if anyone asked me to marry them, I would have said yes."
Now, it's Novak's turn to respond! On Watch What Happens Live! last night, Andy Cohen brought the interview up to the comic actor and writer. Once Cohen mentioned the interview, Novak said, "I thought it sounded to me like an honest and heartfelt account to a complicated and mostly wonderful relationship."

Of course, he couldn't reply without at least one laugh. "The highlight of that experience for me was my mom calling to sort of pry, like, 'So, what do you think of what Howard was saying? Sounded pretty interesting to me.' Like Howard Stern would somehow end up as part of my mom's sort of gentle harangue as, 'When are you gonna get your life together?'"
And while the two are besties now — Kaling frequently posts photos to Instagram of her and Novak, especially once his book, The Book With No Pictures, came out — it doesn't look like they'll be getting back together or marrying anytime soon.
"I love him, I think he's a great person but I'm not holding a candle for B.J.," Kaling finished off her segment with Stern. Hey, we can dream, though!

5 Questions to Ask Yourself When Choosing Your Wedding Destination
- Details

- Published on Wednesday, 01 October 2014 22:38
- Hits: 326
What if you and your fiancé have decided that you definitely want to have a destination wedding but you're not entirely sure where? How do you begin planning your wedding? Simple Answer: You can't begin planning a wedding until you have definitely decided exactly where you want to get married.
Many couples want to get married "anywhere" but at home so they have a whole lot of different options to choose from and that's good, but it can also be confusing. Asking yourselves — and answering — the following questions should help you narrow down your options quite a bit:
1. Cold weather or hot weather? A mountain top or a beach? Fall leaves or aqua seas? Figure out what time of year you're getting married and what kind of optimal weather you'd like to have on your wedding weekend.
2. Passports required or not? Do all of your guests have passports or will this become a nuisance factor that prevents many of your guests from accepting the invitation? While you don't have to poll your guest list, you should have some idea as to how well-traveled they are. When it doubt, think Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin islands if you want a tropical destination wedding. No passports required in those destination for U.S. citizens.

3. Do you need to have handicap accessibility at your wedding venue? There are great historic estates and amazing island villas that are wholly inappropriate venues if you have somebody in an electric wheelchair attending who cannot be easily lifted up a short staircase. Historic buildings and venues outside the continental United States may not meet ADA standards so you have to do your research based on your guests' needs.
4. Are you concerned about your guests' budgets? All-inclusive resorts may sound easy, but really, they're only affordable to the bride and groom because they place the cost obligation on the guests who attend your big day. Everybody is paying for all their own food and beverage, you're just dictating what they get to eat at your specific events. Some of your guests may want to stay at a different hotel or event rent a house, so you have to factor in how that affects your all-inclusive wedding package. Also, there may be multiple weddings going on the same day or weekend at that resort. Do you care?
5. How private or public do you want your wedding ceremony and reception to be? Many historic landmarks can be rented for ceremonies, but they don't shut down the property to the general public. The same with parks, beaches and many hotels. If you want to get married in a field with nobody but your nearest and dearest, make sure you're using private property or can obtain a permit for a private event. Make sure your hotel has a reception venue space that isn't in the middle of the general hotel chaos — it's weird to have people in wet bathing suits or bathrobes walking through the background of all your candid photos.

A Hypochondriac's Guide to Staying Healthy for the Wedding

Brides have plenty to worry about the week of their wedding, but if you're a bit of a hypochondriac (like some over us here, oops) you can also add staying healthy to your list of concerns. To calm your worrying mind, here are five ways to make sure your maintain your health the week of the wedding. We also suggest that you just stay off WebMD... forever... for all of our sakes.
1. Avoid the Undercooked
Salmonella poisoning, while not common, is a real thing. If you're truly concerned about maintaining tip-top health, avoid raw fish, eggs, and meat the week of your wedding. You probably would have been fine eating that steak tartar or tuna sashimi, but with an event as big as your wedding coming up, why risk it?
2. Plan Ahead
Stress is not only mentally taxing, it also weakens your immune system. To keep your immunity high, get as much as possible done well in advance of the week of the wedding. We know, it's easier said than done and last minute issues will come up, but your body will appreciate the forethought.

3. Up the Vitamins
Proactively counteract stress by upping your intake of vitamins in the weeks leading up to your wedding. Incorporate foods rich in Vitamin C — like bell peppers, citrus, or broccoli — into your diet to prevent colds. Also consider taking Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Garlic, or Zinc supplements, as all are said to prevent illness and up your immunity.
4. Sleep!
Catching your zzzz's is a crucial part of staying healthy. Sleep not only boosts your immune system, it also keeps your skin glowing, your mood pleasant, and your mind sharp — all essentials in our book. If wedding planning has your mind too scrambled to sleep, consider taking a natural melatonin supplement to help you doze off.
5. Wash Your Hands
Yes, you're a functioning adult with good hygiene so you likely know to wash your hands, but did you know you should suds up at least five times a day? Doing so cuts your risk of illness nearly in half, so excuse us while we go run to the nearest sink ...
Exclusive: What We Learned About eat.sleep.wear Style Blogger Kim Pesch's Wedding Dress

Style blogger Kim Pesch is the mastermind of eat.sleep.wear. She writes daily posts about her favorite fashion finds, and is a social media powerhouse when it comes to sharing photos of her inspiration. Naturally, Kim started thinking about her wedding dress almost immediately after she got engaged to her fiancé, Blake Lapides. Luckily for us, she decided to share her journey toward finding the dress — a major task for a trendsetter! Kim brought along photographer Alison Conklin as she went to appointments and shared with us her favorite dresses — as well as some fashion insight — from the fun day. Check out our favorite snapshots from her Instagram takeover, and get some exclusive details on her upcoming wedding!
For us, the obvious highlight of the dress-shopping day was the gorgeous details that she shared with us. But for Kim, the entire experience was a lesson in remaining open-minded. "It was about letting go and trying on as many styles as possible. Even if I thought they might not suit my body type or I might not think they were 'my style,'" she tells us. "I think if you have an open mind going into your dress shopping, you might surprise yourself by what you like, what looks great. Because at the end of the day, you want to look and feel your best and with that big smile on your face, it's going to be hard for everyone not to be staring."
One person who will definitely be staring? Her proud fiancé, whom she happily says is letting her plan the wedding of her dreams. As for the type of wedding dress he'd like to see her in? "Not a princess gown," Kim says. "I know he would love to see the beautiful woman that he sees me as and that means showing a bit of my shape with a more form fitting dress."
Kim and Blake are planning an outdoor, coastal wedding, which is informing nearly everything about her details — except for the dress! "I wish I could blurt out where it is but it's a truly special and beautiful place," she told us of the secret spot. "Filled with lush palms and greens tones and set on the ocean. It will be an elegant garden party ... with lots of pineapples." Though that sounds like the recipe for a flowy, garden-party appropriate wedding dress, she insists that that's not the case. "I didn't let the location dictate my style. I am getting married once, and I will wear the dress that I fell in love with. It has a modern twist to it. And I am obsessed with the neckline," she added.
The self-described "Pinterest obsessed" bride-to-be is keeping the rest of her wedding details under wraps for now, though she does admit to loving Lauren Conrad's rustic, romantic wedding. "I loved that she stayed true to her style and nothing was over done," Kim explains. "I think that is one of the more important things I have on my mind as I am making all these decisions. Keep true to myself, and keep it chic but simple."
As for her fiancé, he might have a hurdle to jump in that regard. "He is very involved in what he wants to wear," Kim says lovingly. "He will definitely be wearing a tux. In a perfect world, he would love to style an ode to Humphrey Bogart with a crisp white tuxedo jacket. We shall see about that."
Whether or not he gets his dream tux, Kim is positive that their wedding will be an absolute dream come true. "To be in the moment," is how she describes her ideal state of mind for her nuptials. "I am having a very intimate gathering so I can take everything in and really just have the best time celebrating with the people that I love."

If you're looking for a standout venue for your destination wedding, it's time to give a castle some serious consideration. Aside from the obvious draws — hello, you can get married in a castle — there are tons of logistical reasons why it's worth checking out a turreted locale for your nuptials. With tons of space to house your guests, a gorgeous backdrop for your vows, and lots of local history to absorb, these beautiful castles are the perfect way to truly feel like the king and queen on your big day.
We're spotlighting three amazing destinations for your fairytale "I dos!"
Ashford Castle, Ireland
Why here: Ashford is a castle, seen above, with a capital C, with a glittering lake, endless lawns, and major historic cred. (It was built by the de Burgo family in 1228.) And with 83 guest rooms, it's the right size for a buyout.
Where to wed: Get married in one of two churches or in the walled Victorian gardens, then do diner in the lakeview dining room.
Insider tip: Ashford offers archery and falconry lessons for any members of your party who want to pick up new skills.
Iolani Palace, Honolulu
Why here: The official home of Hawaiian royalty until 1893, America's only actual palace remains sacred ground to locals.
Where to wed: Get hitched in the courtyard of the old military barracks or on the lawn of Coronation Pavilion, where King Kalãkaua and Queen Lil'uokalani were crowned.
Insider tip: You can't get married inside, but you can arrange for guests to take tours of the palace's galleries, where the royal family's crown jewels are displayed.

Fairmont le Château Frontenac, Quebec City, Canada
Why here: Built in 1893, this storybook resort in the walls of the old city just emerged from a $75 million renovation.
Where to wed: Take your first dance under the chandeliers of the huge Grand Ballroom in front of up to 1,000 of your closets friends.
Insider tip: Organize a cable-car trip to the top of Montmorency Falls. The views of the St. Lawrence River and Île d'Orléans are mind-blowing.
Keep this in mind if you do settle on a castle, though: Many castles, particularly in Europe, don't have the 21st-century amenities we're used to — like heating. Find out exactly what you'll need to bring in before signing on the dotted line.
You'll Never Guess Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka's First Dance Song

George Clooney wasn't the only celeb to recently wed in Italy — Neil Patrick Harris married longtime love of ten years David Burtka earlier this September in Perugia. And, thankfully for us, he divulged even more big-day details on the Late Show with David Letterman.
"We wanted to do a destination wedding, our first trip together was in Italy so that seemed fun, and then, in the beginning of the year, a friend of a friend knew a dude who had a castle," Patrick Harris hilariously explained. "So we were like 'Oh hey that's fun!'"
At their destination ceremony and reception was an intimate group of 50 people, including close friend Sir Elton John. Excitedly, Patrick Harris says the music legend also announced their first dance — which was to the tune of "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson.

"That was always kind of our song," Patrick Harris explained of the selection, because, he says that he and Burtka were "Team Kelly" from the beginning of American Idol.

But, according to the actor, like his famed How I Met Your Mother character Barney Stinson, he had a few tricks up his sleeve. "I love games and puzzles and stuff, so it was all these surprises, no one kind of knew what was happening as it was going on," Patrick Harris said of his sweet celebration. "We started dancing to ["A Moment Like This"] and we had a plan: We had a firework guy, who, when the song crescendos, fireworks were supposed to go off." But, because they were in a small town in Italy, Patrick Harris didn't have faith that it would occur "at 2:27 like at Disneyland." To his delight, "It happened perfectly."

After showing a few snaps from that spectacular moment, Letterman and Patrick Harris said together: "Take that, Clooney!" Watch the entire interview, above!

Your Second Wedding 101: An Expert Answers Your Top 5 Questions
- Details
- Category: News(Wedding)
- Published on Wednesday, 01 October 2014 06:38
- Hits: 372
Photo: Getty Images
If you're entering into your second marriage, there may be things you are totally sure about — like your choice of groom! But there may be things that you wonder whether you can repeat, get away with or should even consider doing. And if that's the case, we're here to answer five questions that are likely giving you pause.
Is it alright to have a big church wedding?
"If it's all right with you, your groom and the church, by all means," says etiquette expert Diane Gottsman. "While in the past second weddings have usually been smaller, more discreet affairs, there is no rule preventing you from a bigger, more traditional wedding if this is your preference." If you didn't get your large, elegant affair the first time around, this is your chance! Of course, this could be your groom's first wedding, too, and he may want the whole she-bang.
Should the bride wear white?
"Ivory is a good option," suggests Gottsman, "but white is not out of the question these days. It's entirely up to the bride."
See More: How to Avoid Annoying Your Wedding Planner
Should the bride have another wedding shower?
"For a second wedding, a shower is more about celebrating the impending nuptials rather than giving the bride things she'll need for her new married life," says Gottsman. "Again, follow the bride's wishes; some second-time brides prefer to keep things low-key, some want to go all out." If you don't want a traditional shower, consider other ways to mark the occasion, such as a lunch or spa day with friends, a gift-free recipe shower, or even a co-ed couple's party.
If you are close friends with your ex or his or her family, should they be invited?
"The right answer here can only come from a conversation between the bride and groom," says Gottsman. "If you all have a good relationship and the new spouse is in truly favor of — and not just tolerant of — inviting the previous one or his family, by all means, invite them."
We have everything we need for our household; can we ask for money?
"Some people opt to set up honeymoon funds, or some other type of monetary gift, however, the best choice when soliciting monetary gifts, or any other specific gift is to communicate your wish to family members or close friends so that they can answer questions from other guests," suggests Gottsman. But just know that "there will always be guests who prefer to give a wrapped present, not cash and those that prefer the opposite."
NBC Sports's Josh Elliott and Eyewitness News's Liz Cho Are Engaged!

Separate networks couldn't keep these two anchors apart: Eyewitness News's Liz Cho and NBC Sports's Josh Elliott are engaged!
According to the New York Daily News, the two TV vets — Elliott is known for his time on ABC's Good Morning America, and various spots on ESPN — got engaged while on vacation in Europe this past summer and have kept quiet since.
Page Six reports that the proposal was "spur of the moment." "He gave her a simple gold band that was a family heirloom and meant a lot to him," a source says. "It's been very low-key, and people may not have even realized she was engaged, because she's not wearing a standard diamond engagement ring." The insider adds: "They had been so discreet about the engagement, they have just started revealing the news to close family and friends.

And while sources close to the couple confirmed their pending wedding, it was Elliott's former colleague, Sam Champion, who first broke the news via Twitter. "Im not going to b at work tomorrow. @JoshElliott32 and @LizCho7 announced their engagement tnite!!" the weatherman tweeted.
He also posted a photo of a large group celebrating the exciting news, including newlywed Katie Couric.

— Sam Champion (@SamChampion) September 30, 2014
This will be the second marriage for both Elliott and Cho who each have children from their previous marriages. They've together since 2012, once Cho called it quits with her first husband Evan Gottlieb. Both the bride-to-be and groom-to-be's children reportedly get along. No word yet on the wedding plans, but we're sure it will be small and family-oriented.
How to Plan the Perfect Late-Night Snack Menu

We've all been there. You're at a wedding and you've been drinking and dancing for the last three or four hours. The party's winding down and the hunger pangs are setting in and, much to your dismay, you realize you missed dessert and all the slices of cake are gone. Almost in a panic, you're half-considering a fast-food run when suddenly, you spot waiters making their way to the dance floor, carrying trays of sliders and piping-hot french fries. In an instant, it's become the best. wedding. ever.
There's no better way to keep the party going than to surprise guests with a delicious, late-night snack. More and more couples are adding an end-of-night treat to their wedding menu, and while there really are no hard and fast rules, here are a couple of suggestions to make sure everything goes smoothly:
See More: Can I Host a Cake-Only Wedding Reception?
1. Keep 'em bite-sized.
When it comes to late-night snacks, think mini. Anything larger would seem too much like an hors d'oeuvres or appetizer. Keep it small—just enough to satisfy without having to use any utensils.
2. Serve something sweet or savory (or one of each!).
Choose your favorite sweet or salty snack to serve. If you decide to offer one of each, start with the savory treat then finish up with the sweet one. Here are some of our favorite tasty ideas:
Sweet: Ice cream cones, popsicles, donuts or donut holes, mini milkshakes, milk and cookies, s'mores, root beer floats, churros
Savory: Sliders and fries, hot dogs, corn dogs, pizza, Chinese noodles in mini takeout boxes, mini tacos, soft pretzels, mini ramekins of mac 'n cheese, nachos, mini grilled cheese sandwiches
3. Time it right.
Have your caterers set up a late-night snack station next to the dance floor or send servers out with trays of treats about an hour or hour and a half before the end of the reception.
4. Order enough food.
Since many guests will begin to leave long before the last song is played, you should aim to order enough snacks to feed about half of your guest list. However, this depends on your specific crowd, of course, so if you know most of your guests will stay to the very end, then you'll need to up the quantities.
Get a Look at Amal Alamuddin's Oscar de la Renta Wedding Dress!

Amal Alamuddin paraded around Venice, Italy, in some gorgeous couture during the festivities surrounding her wedding to George Clooney last weekend. From Giambattista Valli minidresses and Stella McCartney pantsuits to Dolce & Gabbana frocks, it was the kind of attire you'd expect from the wife of a mega A-list actor. But now we finally get a glimpse of her most important big-day ensemble: her wedding dress!
Oscar de la Renta designed the bateau-necked French lace wedding dress, which had a princess-y feel to befit the Cinderella-like story we've all seen her enjoy over the past year. According to Hello!, the gown was embroidered with pearls and diamanté accents and featured a lace overlay.

Luckily for us, Vogue snagged a behind-the-scenes look at her dress fitting with the iconic designer, which she attended with her mother and sister.
Clooney and Alamuddin released their official wedding portraits to Hello!, as well as People, and gave some exclusive details and quotes on their big day. Marriage, Clooney says, "feels pretty damn great."
The magazines reported that Clooney was a stylish match for his bride at the altar. His black tux was designed by friend Giorgio Armani, and he wore it with a white shirt, black bow tie and black leather oxfords and the finishing touches were cufflinks gifted from Alamuddin, with "George" inscribed in Arabic.
If it all sounds impossibly romantic and personal, it's because it is — but who wouldn't want it that way when exchanging vows in the international spotlight?

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka: As you can see, this couple loves quality time spent with their adorable children! We've all loved Neil Patrick Harris for years, but it's clear that husband David Burtka loves him just a bit more than us Doogie Howser and How I Met Your Mother fans. Olivia Palermo and Johannas Huebl: On the list of the most stylish couples of this decade, our former cover girl Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl will definitely be in the top five. They're both incredibly good looking and frequent fashion shows, movie premieres, and red carpet affairs arm in arm — always looking chic.
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade: Another sartorially-savvy duo makes our list! Union and Wade had one of the most fashionable weddings of the year and though they've just tied the knot, we've already been following them both on Instagram way before they were engaged.
Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting: The last name "Sweeting" is absolutely befitting of these two as they just cannot get enough of one another — always taking the sweetest and most affectionate snaps. The Big Bang Theory actress and pro tennis player are clearly still madly in love, which gives us all a bit of inspiration.

Follow BRIDES's board Honeymoons on Pinterest.
Let's be honest — the honeymoon is what most grooms (and brides!) look forward to the most during wedding planning. It's where you can sit back, relax, and enjoy each other's company in a location you've probably only dreamt of previously. But first, you have to figure out where to go! As couples get more adventurous with their destinations (African safaris and jungle adventures in Central and South America are becoming wildly popular), the choices can get downright overwhelming.
Enter Pinterest. The very same site that likely helped you pick out wedding details is also a hotspot for honeymoon content. We constantly search for wanderlust-inducing photos of far-off destinations where newlyweds can really feel alone, as well as more practical ideas, like where to stay and what to do. Not only are the pictures pretty, but they're a great way to discover that tropical island you'd never heard of but now have to go to. We plucked three of our favorite pins off of our "Honeymoons" board to show you exactly what we mean. Read about them below and don't forget to follow us on Pinterest for more wedding ideas of all kinds!

First things first: Where on earth do you go? Generally, couples flock to the same places over and over again — Fiji, Italy, Hawaii, the usuals. This pin, for instance, shows the number-one destination for 2014, French Polynesia. With that picturesque scene taken on its isles, it's no wonder why.

Once you pick a destination, it's crucial to find a hotel that you'll enjoy and that will provide the best possible honeymoon experience. This pin leads to a slideshow of the best honeymoon resorts in Asia and Australia. From seaside spas in Thailand to rustic hideaways in New Zealand, it's a goldmine of information that you'll definitely want to pin.

Finally, you need to round out your packing list! You'll obviously need cute clothes and maybe a passport, but don't forget that travel and relaxation often entail a good book. That's why this graphic is so great — it's filled with honeymoon-friendly reading material you'll want to check out (if you can steal away time from your new husband, that is!).

Beyond the Thank-You Note: People You Definitely Need to Thank

As you write thank-you notes after your wedding, remember that not all gifts come wrapped in pretty paper! Though most, if not all, guests will surely give you a present from your wedding registry, there are other loved ones who have go above and beyond with support during wedding planning that definitely deserve some extra-special appreciation. The following categories include both gift givers and the people who make a wedding special through their efforts and goodwill.
People who do kindnesses for you
The neighbor who accepts delivery of your gifts when you're at work, the cousin who supervises guest parking at the reception — anyone who assists you during your preparations, the wedding itself, and after the big event should be graciously thanked. It's also nice to send notes to your officiant and anyone else (the organist or music director, for instance) who worked with you on the ceremony, even though you've paid them the customary fee.
Suppliers and vendors
You don't have to write everyone you hire for services, but anyone who exceeds your expectations will appreciate a courteous note of thanks.
People who entertain for you
When there is more than one host for a shower or party, write to each person or couple. These notes should go out no later than two days after the event. The one exception is when a large number of people in your office or workplace host a shower or party in your honor and give a group gift. While it's preferable to thank everyone with an individual note, it is acceptable to write to the organizer or organizers only. Be sure your note includes your appreciation for everyone's participation. The person who receives your note should forward it to coworkers or post it in a common area. But if individual presents are given, write individual notes.
BRIDES Investigates: Did Angelina Jolie Really Gift Brad Pitt a $3 Million Watch for Their Wedding?

Ever since their late August wedding, it's impossible not to hear how much Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are loving newlywed life. Now, just over a month since the celebrity couple finally tied the knot, we've learned about nearly every detail of their romantic and intimate French countryside wedding. One thing we hadn't heard about, though, was whether or not the new Mr. and Mrs. Pitt exchanged gifts to commemorate the occasion.
As of yesterday evening, the rumor mill was churning with news that Angie did, in fact, gift her new husband with an amazing present in honor of their wedding: a coveted, 1952 "JB Champion Observatory" platinum watch, which the Daily Mail reports is worth more than $3 million. According to reports, the rare timepiece from the esteemed Swiss watchmaker Patek Philippe was inscribed with a short love note from Angie to Brad — "To Roly from Nessa," a nod to their characters in their upcoming drama By The Sea.

So did Angie really drop a small fortune on a watch for her new husband? We thought the spendy present seemed out of character for the philanthropic actress, so we investigated the story.
And it turns out our suspicions were correct: Brad is not the proud new owner of the pricey watch. Forbes is debunking the rumor, saying that while the watch did recently change hands, it was not sold to the high-profile actress. "Only moments ago was this confirmed NOT TRUE, though the watch has indeed been privately sold," Forbes reports.
Sorry, Brad, maybe you'll get a rare watch for your first anniversary!
Jewelry Designer Kendra Scott's Glam Wedding in Sedona, AZ

The theme of jewelry designer Kendra Scott and now-husband Matt Davis's wedding, kisment, or fate, was incredibly fitting. "From the moment we met, we knew it was meant to be," says Kendra. "We were at dinner with separate groups of friends, locked eyes across a crowded restaurant, and took each other's breath away." And when Matt took Kendra back to the doorway where they'd shared their first kiss and got down on one knee, she didn't hesitate to say yes. "It was perfect!"
Even the venue was destined. Matt and Kendra were in Sedona after she opened a store in Scottsdale, and fell in love with Enchantment Resort while sitting on the balcony of their hotel room. Inspired by their location, Kendra's design aesthetic, and the joining of the couple's families, they hired Amy Mancuso Events to handle the details and Katrina Wallace Photographers to take the gorgeous photos on June 6th, 2014.
After hunting for a wedding dress from New York to Los Angeles, Kendra finally struck gold when she called up Claire Pettibone and found out they happened to be having a bridal trunk show the next day. The timeless vintage feel was exactly what she was looking for and — a major bonus — was totally comfortable.
Kendra's built a career on her passion for jewelry design, so there was no question that she'd be wearing pieces she'd created on her wedding day, including statement earrings and the wedding band she'd designed. "I wore my best friend's wedding band on another finger as my something borrowed," she says. To complement her embroidered and lace gown, Kendra carried a white bouquet with hints of yellow, made up of roses, lisianthus, and cattleya orchids.
The Moroccan-inspired flower petal carpet down the aisle mimicked the inspiration for the Kendra Scott logo, and incorporated the bride's favorite colors, white and yellow.
Her two oldest sons walked her down the aisle. "There wasn't a dry eye in the house when our guests saw the two of them next to me," Kendra remembers.
In addition to writing their own vows, Kendra and Matt had their closest friends read "I Carry Your Heart" by e.e. Cummings during the ceremony.
The reception took advantage of the gorgeous Arizona weather, with tables set up in front of the red rock cliffs. Tables were topped with arrangements of lilies, roses, and lush greenery. The menu? All local. "I'm still dreaming about the salad," Kendra says. Guests sipped on Kismet Cocktails, a mix of Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka and lime soda.
The couple shared their first dance to "All of Me" by John Legend before inviting guests to join them on the dance floor. They'd planned to choreograph a dance, but realized that it wasn't quite them only a few minutes into their first lesson and ended up improvising. "My favorite memory," says Kendra, "is of Matt and my 10-year-old son having a dance-off. They weren't even on the dance floor, but everyone stopped dancing to watch."
Matt and Kendra, who honeymooned in the Maldive Islands, advise couples to keep sight of who they are. "After all, this night is about celebrating the beauty of your relationship," she says, "no matter how silly, imperfect, or uncoordinated you might be!"

Exclusive: See Little People, Big World's Jeremy Roloff and Audrey Botti's Entire Wedding Album!

Last week, Little People, Big World star Jeremy Roloff wed Audrey Mirabella Botti on his family's farm in Hillsboro, Oregon, and we've got the exclusive photos of their outdoor celebration!
Six months after Jeremy popped the question to his girlfriend of three years with a custom-designed engagement ring, the pair made it official, walking down the aisle on September 20th, 2014 at Roloff Farms and celebrating with nearly 300 guests.
From the hay bale pews to the mismatched china and everything in between, this one's a stunner. Read on to see all the seriously sweet — and exclusive — details, planned by Mandi Wiley of Champagne Wedding Coordination and gorgeously captured by Christianne Taylor!
(Plus, get an exclusive sneak peek of their wedding special airing tonight!)
The creative-minded bride designed her own wedding dress, purchasing a preowned gown and working with a seamstress to make it truly one-of-a-kind. She topped off her bridal ensemble with a yellow rose crown created by Vanessa Schmidt.
Audrey's neutral-hued bouquet included garden roses, ranunculus, lavender, and stalks of wheat.
Jeremy wore a made-to-measure suit by PROPERSUIT. He had 11 groomsmen, with his brother, Zach Roloff, serving as best man. The groom and groomsmen's ties were made of the same floral material as the bridesmaids' dresses.
The ceremony took place at the farm's chapel, decorated with vines and flanked by arrangements of dahlias, hydrangeas, and grasses. Guests sat on hay bales topped with quilts as the couple exchanged personalized vows.
Audrey's 12 bridesmaids wore floral dresses by the Lauren Graebner of EVA's by Reclamation and crowns of baby's breath.
Before the reception, the newlyweds took to the fields for a few photos.
Round tables were topped with lace overlays and lush arrangements of dahlias, hydrangeas, and roses, while the wedding party was seated at a long wooden table decorated with a runner made of fresh blooms, created by Kelly of Blooming Bouquets. Places were set for dinner with mismatched china and glassware. On the menu? Chicken Mirabella (Mirabella is Audrey's middle name!), polenta, and grilled vegetables.
The couple decided to skip the wedding cake, instead serving guests a seasonal selection of berry, peach, and cherry cobblers baked by Mindy of Decadent Creations.
Audrey and Jeremy's first dance was to "I Don't Dance" by Lee Brice. The groom danced with his mother, Amy Roloff, to "You Are My Sunshine," a choice with sweet sentimental value. When Jeremy and his twin brother, Zach, were little, that was the song she sang to them as she put them to bed. Audrey and her father danced to "Together At Last" from the musical Annie. She and her father performed the song together when she was in third grade!
After the wedding, the pair took off to Jamaica for their honeymoon, where they're enjoying sun and sand.
Watch all of these details come to life during Little People, Big World wedding special airing tonight at 10/9c on TLC. Can't wait 'til then? Brides.com has an exclusive sneak peek of Jeremy and Audrey's wedding-planning process — watch it below!

Princes William & Harry Attended a Wedding This Weekend (No, It Wasn't George Clooney's)

It's been a busy wedding season for Prince William and Prince Harry. Earlier this summer they were the star guests at Guy Pelly's wedding, last month they reveled with longtime friend Charlie Gilkes at his Italian nuptials, and just two days ago, the brothers reunited with childhood friend Victoria Inskip and her fiancé Robert Davies-Jones for their big day!
Noticeably absent from the festivities was pregnant Kate Middleton, who is still said to be suffering from acute morning sickness. Harry's rumored on-again girlfriend Cressida Bonas was also missing. Last week reports surfaced that Harry and Cressida had reunited for the prince's 30th birthday. They were also spotted at a movie theater near Kensington Palace catching a movie.

Ultimately, the two ladies weren't really missed at the wedding. According to the Daily Mail, the royals used their solo outing as an opportunity to reunite the "Glosse Posse" — the reported name for Harry and William's circle of friends, which included Pelly and Inskip, when growing up at Highgrove House, the Gloucestershire home of Prince Charles.
Hopefully the royal brothers kept their partying in check without Kate's presence. The last time the duo attended a wedding with friends, Prince William reportedly lost part of his tooth! According to the Daily Mail, William and Harry went to the wedding of friends Tom van Straubenzee and Lady Melissa Percy last June while Kate was home, pregnant with Prince George. "William was dancing into the small hours when Tom knocked the tooth out on the dance floor," a source says. "William was joking that if Kate went into labour that night, he'd have to smile for the cameras with a missing tooth."
The Belated Wedding Reception: What It Is and How to Plan It

Though most couples have their full wedding reception immediately following the reception, it doesn't always happen that way. When a small, private, or destination wedding has taken place, some couples decide to give a party in the weeks following the ceremony to share their happiness with friends and family. The couple may host their own wedding party, or the bride and groom's family can host a wedding reception for the couple. This is frequently done when the couple has married privately or away from home or did not have a reception at all. Following are some guidelines for a post-wedding party:
What kind of reception is appropriate?
If no wedding reception was held or if only a small reception was held, this celebration may include all the components of any wedding reception. It can be as formal or as informal as the couple wants. If the bride wore a wedding gown for the ceremony, she may wear it again at the reception party if she wishes. They can even have a wedding cake ready to be cut and served to guests.
Should I expect gifts?
No gifts are expected. However, some guests choose to bring gifts. The couple should open any gifts they do receive after the party and send prompt thank-you notes.
How do I word the invitation?
Fill-in cards or printed invitations can be used and should be sent four to six weeks in advance. Invitations for a reception hosted by the bride's parents would read:
request the pleasure of your company
at a reception
in honor of
Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson

5 Reasons Why Fall Weddings Are the Way to Go

Summer is the time for weddings and there's a 90 percent chance that we all attended one before the season came to a close. Well, that begs the question: Why not get married in the fall? The weather is beautiful (and tolerable), the leaves are changing colors, vendors are less busy, and everyone is in the festive spirit right before the holidays. We tapped the thoughts of the Manager of Catering and Sales at New York City landmark venue The India House, Grace Lui on the five pros of an autumn celebration.
Fall foliage makes everything look magical.
Though blooming, fresh flowers are hard to resist, they're no match for the richly-hued leaves of fall. Of the season's backdrop, Lui says, "If you're in an outdoor space with autumn foliage, the warm orange, reds and yellows will definitely make every image pop."
The summer heat is behind you which means the partying possibilities are endless.
Outdoor weddings can become quite sticky due to the balmy weather, but none of that matters for autumn as the weather is more temperate. This means your guests will hit the dance floor and party until they drop without worrying about the heat and humidity getting the best of them.

It's the perfect time of year for a long-sleeve gown or a bit of fur thrown in the mix.
"Wedding trends have been moving in the vintage direction for some time but even for the most modern bride, the colder season definitely calls for a more romantic feel for a bridal silhouette", says Lui. She adds, "The elegant sleeved and lace style is more popular in the fall partially due to cooler temperatures, but also because it is complemented by the lush elements of décor often woven through the wedding design and theme. Elegant wedding gowns are often paired with a stylish fur or cape. Also, boutonnieres with berries and maple leaves create a burst of color on a crisp gray suit."
A lot of fun can be had with décor that simply doesn't fit the spring or summer months.
Autumn has its own special brand of seasonally-special details. "You can have a lot of fun in a fall wedding with props and décor that may not match the summer months like centerpieces with strings of pearls, gold mercury glass candles, pumpkins and berries," states Lui. "Pumpkins, gourds and bronze-colored lamps give the space an amber glow."
Warm drinks and holiday-inspired pies can be served to your guests' delight.
"Signature cocktails like Spiced Rum Apple Cider and Old Fashioned can be featured as the bride and groom's choice", suggests Lui. "Bisques and pies are often selected for their warm sense of familiarity, too."

Common Causes of Pre-Wedding Jitters
- Details
- Category: News(Wedding)
- Published on Tuesday, 30 September 2014 06:38
- Hits: 375
Contrary to popular belief, cold feet aren't the only cause of pre-wedding jitters. In fact, most of the time brides couldn't be more excited to marry their significant others. It's the things that are truly out of their control that often get them the most worked up (think feuding family members!). So if you're feeling uneasy for any of the following reasons, we've got your back, sister.
Your Body Image
Most brides want to look their best on their big day, which can definitely trigger pre-wedding jitters, points out Shafonne Myers, wedding planner and founder of Pretty Pear Bride. "Making sure your dress fits perfectly, that your hair and makeup look amazing, and for some, especially plus-size and curvy brides, it can be a bit more intense. If you're feeling self-conscious about your body though, no matter what your size, keep in mind that your soon-to-be mate is marrying you for a reason and that's because you look fantastic inside and out."
The Weather
Whether you're deathly afraid of a downpour on your big day or seriously stressed out about less than perfect temps, obsessively checking the weather isn't going to help. If anything, it's just going to make you that much more anxious. So don't look at it, suggests associate planner and event designer at Pure Luxe Bride, Blake Bush. "The weather changes constantly and is a worry you truly can't control. Discuss a rain plan with your planner so you know exactly what will need to be done in advance," she says.
See More: 5 Ways to Relax Before Your Fall Wedding
Stage Fright
Believe it or not, not every bride (or groom) enjoys being in the spotlight. And for those that are shy or typically avoid having others shower them with attention, the thought of getting hitched can cause a ton of anxiety, notes Greg Jenkins, founder of Bravo Productions. "Breathe and find things that will make you calm going into the day and push ahead," he recommends. "Remember that the people attending your function are there to support your happiness."
Money
Money woes have you feeling frazzled leading up to your big day? Steer clear of any cash-related concerns by setting an initial budget and sticking to it. "Decide what you must have and what you can live without so there aren't any surprise costs when the wedding approaches," advises Bush.
Your Family
In particular, divorced parents! "As one of my brides put it, way too many members of my family in the same place at once," says Lynn Jawitz, owner of Florisan Wedding and Event Design in NYC. To calm any pre-wedding jitters, she suggests meeting with each of the parties early on in the process and outlining what is to be expected of them in terms of behavior (i.e. whom they will take photos with, whom they will be standing next to, etc.). "This should all be fleshed out well before the day, and an expressed agreement agreed to between all of the parties."
Procrastination
According to Sandy Malone, owner of Weddings in Vieques, the most common cause of pre-wedding jitters is what remains on the bride's to-do list in the month leading up to the wedding. "If she's DIYing her big day, she's going to be freaking out about how much is left to do and whether things will all work out or not. On the other hand, if she's got a planner but hasn't kept up with her deadlines for the guests' dinner orders, the DJ playlist or even writing her vows, these things will cause anxiety that is often misplaced." Malone's solution? Stick to a schedule and get going!
Perfectionism
After you've spent an entire year plus planning your day, sweating the details is hard not to do for so many brides. At some point, however, you've got to let go of control and allow others to take the reins in executing your function, points out Jenkins. "Delegate at the onset of planning your nuptials and reception, knowing you cannot play 'wedding planner' at your own event. And remind yourself that whatever happens is a small glitch in the grand scheme of celebrating a life together with your spouse."
Presenting Mr. and Mrs. Clooney! George and Amal Have a Civil Ceremony

It's finally official: George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are married! Capping off a wildly romantic weekend in which they celebrated their bachelor and bachelorette parties in Venice, Italy, and hosted a grand ceremony and reception at the Aman Canal Grande hotel, the duo followed Italian laws today and had a civil ceremony in the Sala Degli Affreschi at Palazzo Ca' Loredan, a council building.
According to Us Weekly, the A-list actor and his British barrister wife donned a gray suit and a cream-colored hat and pantsuit, respectively, for the official event. That outfit was a slight departure for Alamuddin, who reportedly wore an Oscar de la Renta wedding dress, according to WWD. Their mode of transportation wasn't too shabby, either: They took the same Amore boat they'd been using all weekend.
Clooney's friend, former Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni performed the civil ceremony in addition to the Saturday ceremony. Another witness included Clooney's favorite taxi driver Alessandro Greco.

With their marriage finally set in stone, the couple of nearly a year seemed happier than ever, according to Us. Clooney told the magazine he felt "very good" before smiling and nuzzling into his new wife's neck as they exited the Palazzo.
It's no wonder they're so giddy — the weekend was filled with revelry among guests including Matt Damon and his wife Luciana, Bill Murray, John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, and Cindy Crawford and her husband Rande Gerber.
Another high-profile guest was U2 frontman Bono, who joked around with People as he left Venice this morning. "Wedding? What wedding? I was at a bar mitzvah," he said, when asked how he enjoyed the weekend nuptials.
"The party was great. It's still going on ... in some people's minds," he added, before mentioning the ceremony. "It was very emotional and lovely," he noted.

FaceTime is the next best thing to being there when you and your fiancé are forced to live apart.
When Stefany Alongo and Tony Fuger met at a mutual friend's wedding, the spark was instantaneous. They knew there was something worth exploring. Alas, she lived in Palm Beach and his home was in Milwaukee. The courtship, according to Stefany, involved lots of "virtual dates, flower deliveries, homemade gifts sent via USPS, and romantic rendezvous in our respective hometowns and in cities across the United States."
Two years later Tony proposed. The engagement period created a new set of stressors: making the zillions of big and little decisions that go into planning a wedding as a team when you are 1,500 miles apart. This necessitated clear, constant and honest communication. Recalls Stefany, "On a weekly basis we discussed our expectations for the wedding. For major vendor meetings Tony joined us via FaceTime." She finishes, "He arrived a week before the wedding so we could get our license and finish the last minute details together."
If Tony and Stefany's situation sounds familiar, here are some tips to stay close when your pillow talk is mostly virtual:
Limit wedding planning conversations: Clearly, it's hard enough to schedule schmooze time when you live in different time zones. Staying connected becomes that much more difficult when most if not all of your precious contact revolves around choosing menus and devising seating plans. Instead, do fun activities together virtually — watch a movie on Netflix or cook the same recipe at the same time.
Have real face time versus FaceTime as often as possible: Technology is wonderful. However, especially when so much of your energy is focused on the upcoming big day, you need to refuel and reconnect by spending time together in the flesh.
Delegate: Part of teamwork is picking tasks that play to your different strengths and weaknesses. If he's the better DJ let him plan the wedding song playlist while you take care of the wedding registry.

Brad Pitt on His Marriage to Angelina Jolie: "It's More Than Just a Title"

He speaks! A month after his surprise, intimate French wedding to Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt is opening up about his marriage.
After being together for nearly a decade and having six kids, you wouldn't think that the "Mr." and "Mrs." label would change much in Pitt and Jolie's relationship — but the actor says otherwise. "I wouldn't say [marriage is] just a title," Pitt says in a new interview with British GQ. "There's more to it than that."
Of course, there was another wedding-related topic that had to be addressed: Newlywed and close friend George Clooney's absence from his wedding! Especially after Clooney's reported comments that Pitt is "unreachable."
See more: Everything We Know About Angelina Jolie's Wedding Dress
"Well, you know, George is extremely accessible. He's one of our best representatives," Pitt explains in the cover story. "He's funny as sh-t. He's a joy to be around. I guess maybe I'm more of a miserable b--tard. I'm a bit of a loner, you know? I'm more quiet by nature. And coming from hillbilly country, I'm probably more reserved."
Now that he's married, Pitt wants to focus more on his family, especially his six kids Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox, and Vivienne. "I've been slowing down for a while now," he says. "And slowly transitioning to other things. And, truthfully, I do want to spend more time with my kids before they're grown up and gone."
Sounds like the Pitt-Jolie union is off to a great start!
Go Inside Lauren Conrad's Italian Honeymoon!

Lauren Conrad is loving life! She just married her dream man, William Tell, in an adorable, apple-themed affair, and now they're indulging in their romance on an extra-special Italian honeymoon according to her Instagram feed.
Conrad used her masterful photography skills to show off her honeymoon's locale. With an Italian phrasebook in the foreground of the photo (below) and a blurred Mediterranean beach scene in the back, L.C. coyly captioned the shot: "How do you say 'I may never come home?'"
Just before that she also posted a shot (below) of a carefully-curated set of rocks in the shape of a heart, which we can only assume was also found on the Mediterranean coast.
The Sicilian sand isn't the only thing the brand-new Mrs. Tell is enjoying on her honeymoon: The MTV-alum-turned-fashion-designer-and-lifestyle-guru also admitted on her Instagram to starting a new diet — pizza and red wine! "Post wedding diet," she wrote next to a cute snap of herself holding up a pie and sipping a glass of red wine (above).

She definitely deserves to indulge after her big day at a winery in Santa Ynez, California. After all, the Paper Crown designer rocked two very form-fitting wedding dresses courtesy of Badgley Mischka and Monique Lhuillier. And while we're sure their honeymoon eats are quite scrumptious, it sounds like the Tells' wedding was quite the culinary feat! Besides the 50 hand-made apple pies, guests and the newlyweds also noshed on black striped bass, Tuscan roasted chicken, and beef tenderloin. Let's not forget the mini grilled cheese and chicken and waffles they were served during the after party. What a way to celebrate!

It was a complete coincidence that brought Melanie York and Craig Germano together in 2008. Melanie was living in Columbus, Georgia, and Craig was merely passing through during his move from Florida to New York City. A mutual friend of theirs, who'd attended West Point with Craig, was having a party, and both Craig and Melanie were there. "I thought he was cute," she says, "so I obviously avoided him for most of the night!" But Craig was persistent, and managed to get Melanie to talk to him — and they haven't stopped since.
After a few months of phone calls, a first date in Atlanta, and moves to Florida, New York, and Washington, D.C., Craig and Melanie decided they needed a vacation and headed to Hawaii to visit some friends for a few weeks — and Melanie started to get suspicious. A week into their trip, the pair woke up at the crack of dawn to drive the road to Hana. Just as Melanie was ready to head home, Craig pulled over and they walked down to a church overlooking the water and proposed. "I was so excited," says Melanie, "but I looked sweaty and awful after a day of hiking and driving around. You're supposed to look beautiful and smell nice when you get engaged!"
Melanie's always loved Charleston, so when she and Craig started planning their wedding, she made it her goal to make him fall in love with the city, too. Her plan worked, and the couple wed on December 5th, 2013, at Trinity United Methodist Church, then celebrated downtown at Market Pavilion Hotel, all photographed by Christophe Photo.
Melanie tried on every style of gown she could find, from a poufy ballgown to a bohemian slip style, before landing on "the one." She was sold when she tried on the Georgina gown by Vera Wang. "I loved the modern, layered skirt, but that the lace on the bodice gave it a traditional, southern feel," says Melanie. She paired the gown with a pair of Kate Spade shoes, pearl earrings from her mother-in-law, and a necklace from her husband.
The bride's father walked her down the aisle. "I was so nervous, I thought I might faint, so I couldn't help but walk quickly," she says. "My father turned to me and said, 'Slow down, you don't want to run down the aisle. He's not going anywhere.'"
The couple did interviews with their reverend, both together and individually, to personalize their ceremony. "He included some detailed about our relationship, like Craig's George Bush impression and my random collection of books, to make it more 'us' and make everyone laugh," say Melanie.
"We love the food, the culture, and the people of Charleston," says Melanie, "and knew it would be the perfect spot for a wedding!"
The couple fell in love with Market Pavilion Hotel because of the classic décor and the intimate ballroom. "It's on the smaller side," says the bride, "so it was perfect for us." Their other favorite detail? Getting to have cocktails at sunset on the roof, with a sprawling view of Charleston.
After their first dance to "At Last" by Etta James (the first song Craig heard when he turned on the radio after meeting Melanie!), the couple cut into their three-tiered cake, featuring marble cake with ganache and buttercream icing.
Guests waved ribbon wands as the couple made their way out of the reception and into the elevator for a rooftop after party — that moved to Craig and Melanie's hotel room at 2 a.m. and didn't end until after four. "The hotel staff came up and asked our friends to go back to their rooms!" she laughs.
The newlyweds unplugged for their honeymoon, heading to Palm Island in the Grenadines and enjoying a bungalow sans phone, computer, and TV. "It was so relaxing," says Melanie.

While ferns may conjure images of lush and verdant forests and jungles, we have a feeling they're the next big thing in the weddings world. The leafy, emerald-green beauties are a great accent to your bouquets and centerpieces, but they are also showy and stunning enough to take center stage and stand on their own. Ferns come in a ton of different varieties and looks, from the feathery and delicate maidenhair ferns to the whimsical, curlicue-shaped fiddlehead variety. And, best of all, they're available all-year-round, though they're especially great for late-summer, fall, and winter weddings. Check out our favorite ways to incorporate beautiful ferns into your wedding.
Bouquet of Ferns and White Flowers (above): This pretty emerald-and-cream bouquet combines a variety of lush ferns with ivory lisanthuses, garden roses, ranunculuses, and veronicas.
Summery Fern Bouquet: This sweet arrangement would be perfect for an outdoor wedding. We love the combination of textured ferns with cheerful daisies, hydrangeas, and feverfew.
Green-and-White Bouquet: There is something so classic and pretty about simple shades of white and green. The emerald-green ferns add a touch of texture to balance out the creamy-white roses, lisanthuses, and pieris.
All-Greenery Bridal Bouquet: For a bold bride who wants anything but flowers in her bouquet, consider one filled with ferns, poppy pods, dianthus, fiddlehead ferns, celosia, and green hydrangeas like this newlywed's arrangement.
Woodsy Bridal Bouquet: The long, delicate ferns give this bouquet by Honey & Poppies and wonderful woodland feel that's perfect for autumn or winter.
Botanical Bridal Bouquet: This lush arrangement by florist JL Designs features delicate maidenhair ferns, bay leaf, pieris, double hellebores, anemones, veronicas, and astilbe and is tied with caramel-colored velvet ribbon.
Special thanks to Sean Nestlerode at Torchio Nursery in San Francisco for his help with our "In Season Now" flower series!
